For the last three years Michelle worked hard to balance her 10 hour work days - injecting, training, and managing the injectors of Meesha, with the hours needed to maintain her 3.8 GPA in the accelerated NP program at Spring Arbor University. - and she did it all in heels. You’d think all of this work would leave Michelle drained, but she still found time to be an amazing mom and wife! Here’s to the next adventure - congratulations Michelle!

Lip treatments can cause a cold sore to pop up, but don’t panic, it’s not an always thing - but to prevent it from happening we can call your pharmacy and prescribe Valtrex. It’s easy to think lip filler is routine when you see the hundreds of lip filler pics scattered across our teams instagram pages - but lips are anything but a ‘treat and repeat’ area. BUT WHY? Buckle up friends, break out those 8th grade science books we’re diving deep into an anatomy lesson! In the video above, look closely at the pulsing area of the lip (it’s a light pink / white area by the arrows) - T...hat’s a pulsing superior labial artery providing blood flow to the lips - It’s SUPER rare to be able to see it because typically, on most patients the SLA sits higher and deeper in the lip - but like snowflakes - everyone is different and on a handful of patients the SLA is very close to the lips surface A GOOD INJECTOR WILL AVOID HITTING THE superior Labial artery why? Q: What happens if you hit the artery? A: Best case scenario a horrendous bruise...worst case scenario a vascular occlusion (Which we are well trained to handle. We are always well prepared to treat and emergency and we can reverse the occlusion using a dissolving agent). Q: Were you still able to inject her? A: Absolutely! Just very very carefully. Seeing the artery allowed me to navigate around it so that I did not hit it. I also aspirated my needle around that area to ensure I was not getting blood drawn back. I also carefully monitored her capillary refill (how quickly her lips pinked back up) throughout and after the procedure. Q: What kind of filler did you use? A: This younger patient wanted more dramatic lip volume so she had decided on Versa which contains about a quarter more filler than our other syringes. Q: Did she bruise? A: Minimally if any! 60% of lip filler patients may experience some degree of bruising which is normal and expected but she left looking and feeling great! What other lip safety questions do you have :D
