As the opioid epidemic continues to rage and chronic pain cases increase among Americans continue to rise, acupuncture and Traditional Chinese medicine stand as a safe, effective alternative treatment. The body has natural pain-fighting systems that can be activated through acupuncture and electroacupuncture. Some studies have shown electroacupuncture at certain points activates specific neurons in the hypothalamus of the brain that are responsible for the production of t...he body’s natural endocannabinoids, molecules that are involved in the pain signaling process in the body. Once these molecules are activated, they are shown to travel to other areas of the brain, and eventually to the spinal cord, inhibiting the perception of pain in the patient. While more research is needed on these specific mechanisms, decades of scientific research show acupuncture can help with chronic pain without the harmful, addictive qualities of other treatment options. #NaturalMedicine #Acupuncture #Pain# FeelBetterNow #Healing #Health #PainManagement #AlternativeMedicine See more

Unlike in Western medicine, where doctors often prescribe treatments based only on one main symptom, TCM looks at a bunch of different factors and tries to treat the underlying cause of all your symptoms or imbalances. To do that, practitioners might need to address imbalances in multiple areas of your body. That’s where the herbal remedies come in. Practitioners can put together an herbal formula specific to multiple different underlying causes that might be affecting your health and causing outward symptoms. #HerbalRemedies #Herbs #NaturalHealth #Natural #Safe #Effective #TCM Why wait?! Dong Gui, or Angelica Sinensis, also helps to regulate the menstrual cycle, relieve menopausal symptoms and reduce anemia. It is an important herb in TCM for harmonizing the blood. Dong Gui contains coumarin chemicals, which may help dilate blood vessels and relax the smooth muscles of the uterus, relieving menstrual cramping. BUT, make sure you check in with a qualified herbalist BEFORE adding herbal remedies to your herbal repetoire. #DongGui #MenstrualCycle #Relax #Relief #PMS #WomensHealth

Remember to #Stretch EVERYDAY! This Forward Bend exercise can help a distracted mind unwind. Sit on the floor with legs stretched out in front of you. Keep your knees slightly bent, do not lock them. If this causes any discomfort, you can sit on a folded blanket and bend your knees slightly out to the side. ... With your chin slightly tucked, slowly stretch forward, reaching your hands toward your toes. If you cannot touch your toes, reach for your knees, shins or ankles. Relax your head. As you breathe in, focus your breath along your back and spine. Expanding outwards with each inhalation, and imagining that you are expanding your back like a big balloon. As you exhale, allow your body to relax deeper into the stretch. (See image ) Hold this position for a few breaths. #Acupuncture #TCM #Relax #Unwind #FeelBetterNow #Yoga #HomeExercise #ItsSoEasy

Winter, in TCM, is associated with the Kidneys. The kidneys store our essence, or the body’s most basic and fundamental energy, which is known as Jing in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The Jing is the essential fluid of the physical body and it naturally becomes depleted over time. If the kidney function becomes weak, the storage capacity will become inhibited and Jing will leak from the body. Like most organs, the kidneys have an energetic pathway that runs thr...oughout the body. The energy that flows through these pathways is known as Qi (pronounced chee). Qi is an essential element of a strong healthy body. Ask me for more information about how acupuncture and TCM can help support your kidney function. #Winter #TCM #Kidney #OrganHealth #Acupuncture #NaturalMedicine #Safe #Natural
