Andrew and Jeff enjoyed a relaxing day on the ice at Lake Wallenpaupack! Andrew was with me last year and knew what to expect, but Jeff was a first time ice fisherman and a quick learner. Unfortunately Jeff’s biggest fish got wrapped up in something underwater after a long run and the line snapped. Needless to say Jeff is now hooked for life! I’m sorry Andrew I didn’t get more pics of the big bluegills.

It was a cold start, but the sweat was soon soaking everyone’s clothes from all the running for tipup action! I guess that is a good thing when it is 5-10 degrees and no one was cold. I had the ice hut set up to get warm and it sat empty all day long. Most fish were caught on tipups but a good amount of bluegills were caught jigging. The last couple days were not pleasant weather wise, but it is winter and without these blustery temps we would not have ice. Despite the cold and wind both days went well. 25 tank perch today between Nick and his dad. Bill had 14 yesterday with a bonus smallmouth. Just as it was freezing! What a great time! Be safe out there. There are still a lot of areas on Lake Wallenpaupack that have unsafe ice conditions.

I have been out the last few days doing some checking of ice conditions in NEPA. I also have been doing a lot of catching! The fillets will provide dinner for a few days and my family loves perch (beer batter style) I love this time of year! Glad the ice is finally starting to thicken.

Not a bad day running around Lake Wallenpaupack checking to see what areas have ice and checking some other areas for fish. I also managed to catch enough for a couple meals in the process.

Rich and his brother Tom came back for more action on the Susquehanna River. The fish were not on fire and neither were we. Lol There was a constant 15 mph breeze out of the north and air temperatures started at 31 at 130pm and ended at 23 at 630pm.
