Mill Creek Creamery

Eleanor Whitaker lived in the Mill Creek Creamery, now our residence, for nearly 60 years, most of them with her husband, Dewey, until his death in early 2001. For the 2014 Kutztown Folk Festival, Eleanor composed the poem below in the Pennsylvania Dutch dialect about her life and times at this active corner of Maxatawny Township. First views of the creamery now that two of the property's long-established trees have been taken down. One was starting to push against the wraparound porch roof and would have led to structural damage; the other was diseased and blocking some of the other trees from getting enough sunlight, so it had to be sacrificed. Time for some new planting and landscaping!
