Mommy & Me rescue

Jessie ( as we are calling her) came in as a stray the other day. It didn't take long for us to realize that she had Parvo. Parvo is a deadly disease that dogs get when owners do not vaccinate. Parvo is very expensive to treat so we are asking that you help us save Jessie's life by donating towards her vet care and praying for her. We thank you all for being there whenever there is a dog and need and working with us to save lives. #teamMommyandMeRescue rocks!

Today we had a very upsetting incident at the rescue center. A few days ago a poodle was brought in as a stray. The chip was not even registered, no collar, no license, no rabies tag. The owner however saw our post and contacted us. He didn't bother showing up until today to pick the dog up. He came in with an attitude and they didn't show any concern when we told them the dog was almost hit by a car. We asked them to fill out a form reclaiming the dog and to show proof of ...who they were in the way of a driver's license. We do this to make sure a dog is going home to the real owner and not someone trying to steal the dog. Right away they were upset at having to show an id and tried to forcibly take the dog from me. There was a lot of screaming and cursing (and yes I did give it back) because when two men threaten a woman she reacts out of fear for her wellbeing and concern for the dog. They were advised that they owed a 25 dollar a day fee and told us good luck getting the money from them. They continued verbally assaulting us out into the parking lot where another person and her child observed and heard them. Everything was captured on our security system cameras. Thankfully we have them as proof. We will always stand up and do what it right for a dog and that includes making sure a person is who they claim to be when they come to claim a stray.

UPDATE 5pm Dec 10--- Simon is being force fed and he is keeping it down. The infection still isn't under control and he has no interest in eating or drinking on his own. He did wag his tail and try to roll over for tummy rubs when he saw Erin . He still has diarrhea. Please pray that his guts start working properly and that his infection comes under control. -----end update----- UPDATE Dec 10 2020: Simon is not doing well today. He didn't want to go out to urinate and when he... did have some urine it was dark in color. We just ask that you keep praying for him and continue to share his post for donations so that we can cover his vet bill. end update--------- Simon still needs your prayers and positive thoughts. He was able to go out to pee today, but then he got severe diarrhea which is basically consisting of blood and pus. His white blood cell count has gotten worse, he won't eat, or drink and he's very painful. Thank you for all the support you have shown him. We really need to continue pulling together for this precious soul. Please say a prayer and share his post.

Poor Simon is not feeling well at all :( The vet told us they may have to do another surgery and remove part of his intestine. Please remember to pray for our boy tonight... he needs all the positive energy and love he can get.

They are approx 10 - 12 months old. They are all male. They are loveable and silly boys who love playing.... They will be available for adoption in approx 4-6 weeks after they complete training. UPDATE Dec 8 2020 @ 3:17 Simon made it through surgery. They removed 1.5 liters of fluid. The fluid was bloody. They found no blockage and right now do not know what caused the fluid buildup. We don't know if he will survive this... please pray for him. Thank you /end update... UPDATE @ 12:30- Ultrasound showed there is something blocking the fluid from escaping his stomach. He is too dehydrated to do surgery today so they will work on getting him hydrated and do surgery tomorrow morning... /end update Simon is not doing well. He is now getting IV antibiotics and they are doing an ultrasound for fluid in his abdomen. Causes for this condition are all pretty bad but some of them can be treated with success. Please continue to pray for this sweet boy, share his post and if you can please donate to help cover his vet care. He is going to be staying at the vets until they figure out what's going on and see improvement.

Kids that are capable are encouraged to interact with the dogs by cuddling and can read to them if they choose. Some of our younger volunteers are accompanied by their Mom or Dad who help with dog walking or just helping in general.
