This is definitely a piece you don’t see very often. Check out this Extremely rare and desirable pair of World War II German Kriegsmarine 10x80 binoculars that were mount were mounted to an anti-aircraft guns on German gun boats during WWI. These binoculars were built with a farbglaswechsler, or color glass changer, as there is an option to switch the lens colors from day to night. These binoculars are a part of our July 15th collectible Firearms & Militaria Auction and are estimated at $8,000 - $12,000.

This historic map of Mexico was printed just previous to the Mexican American War, which began in 1846 and ended in 1848. This map of Mexico shows the vast expanse of the country as it was organized in 1828, just seven years after winning independence from Spain. Coahuila y Tejas is outlined in pink with the Nueces River as the southern border of Tejas. Texas would later claim the Rio Grande as its border, a dispute that culminated in war between the United States and Mexico. This piece was a part of our Early Arms & Militaria auction last month and sold for $31,200.

Don Ellis was a self-taught silversmith and engraver. During his younger years as a rodeo rider, Don created his first rodeo trophy buckle for Ellensburg, Washington rodeo events. By the 1940s he was making silver saddles. Don’s exquisite style of engraving met or exceeded some of the best engravers and he did it in a short amount of time. This is one of Don’s silver parade saddle and is a spectacular silver mounted parade saddle with extensive leather carving and engraved silverwork. This piece will be up for auction in July for our Collectible Firearms & Militaria. Estimated at $12,000 - $16,000.

Can you imagine playing golf in an outfit like these?? This is quite possibly the earliest copperplate printing depicting the game of golf we have ever seen. Can you guess the course in the background?? Yes, it is Blackheath, outside of London England. Along bottom reads " To the Society of Goffers at Blackheath" "Engraving by V. Green Merrotino Engraver to his Majesty and Elector Palatine" and "This Plate is with Just Respect Dedicated by their most humble Servant, Lemuel ...Francis Abbott". For context, William Innes of Lime Street was a London merchant trading with the West Indies and lived from 1719 to 1795. Another Tom Tolworthy special, taking a look at the Violano-Virtuoso that is up for auction this week. In 1906 the Mills Novelty Company launched the "Automatic Virtuoso" and the Mills Violano-Virtuoso was born. From that day on into the 1930's, the Violano-Virtuoso went through many design changes and enhancements including a ships version where the piano could be played manually, and several other versions where accompanying instruments could be added to the mainstay violin with piano. This piece will up for auction this Friday at Morphy’s and is estimated at $25,000 - $50,000

Vending machines that dispense gum, snacks, cigars, perfume, peanuts or even one’s fortune on a card have captured collectors’ eye since the late 19th century. The "Lion" cast-iron peanut machine is considered by many collectors to be the "Holy Grail" of tall globed peanut machines and truly a stunning piece of American commercialism at the turn of the century. This example was made by the Wagner Mfg. Co. for A Marx & Co. A Marx was a wholesale distributor and sold Lions under many different trade names, this one being "The Novelty Cigar Co". Selling for $26,400 at our auction house last June.

One of the most iconic names in all of gas & oil advertising is Gilmore Gasoline & Motor Oil. An early West Coast brand, Gilmore was started in Los Angeles, and was purchased by Mobil in the early 1940s. The vast majority of Gilmore advertising was destroyed, and is very sought after by collectors. One of the rarer items of all is this lion tamer Gilmore flag man holding a Cloth Gilmore checkered flag. These flag men were hand painted, and made from plywood. Most of these... pieces did not survive, and are extremely rare to find in all original condition. One of the most rare and desirable of all Colt firearms is the Walker pistol. These massive revolvers were manufactured in 1847 in a quantity of only 1,000 to arm mounted troops for the war in Mexico. The first shipment of Walker revolvers to Mexico was only about 220 units with a second shipment of 280 revolvers arriving about a week later with 6 of them reported stolen. The next shipment of 500 Colts were delayed and did not arrive in Mexico until the war was nearly over ...and were not issued at that time. When the war was over, out of the 396 Walker pistols, only around 316 were turned in, with many of them lost at battle and others stolen or retained by Officers. Very few Walker pistols survive today in any condition with any original finish. Such a revolver is a great rarity and seldom ever seen today like this one.
