Another great Story and a Snack Day! This afternoon, after singing with Fr. Murphy, our kids learned about Moses and the 10 Commandments. They also started to learn about some of the special things in our chapel, like the Cross and the altar. And, of course, they had a snack! And celebrated Juan’s 11th birthday.

Thank you so much to Nutritional Development Services from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia! They generously provided refrigeration to Mother of Mercy House so that we can begin to store fresh food for distribution! And they also made some terrific snack boxes for our neighbors. We are blessed to have your loving support as we share the mercy of God with all.

Our Circulo de Oración started to meet again this evening for a Holy Hour! We remembered in our prayers two special people: Skyler Porecca who was tragically killed early this morning. Her uncle, Chris Cassidy, is a wonderful helper here at MoMH. And Maria Middleton, a Senior at Villa Joseph Academy. She passed away this morning after a long illness. Maria enthusiastically helped us get our annual Coat Drive off the ground a few years back by collecting new coats from her school. May Maria and Skyler Rest In Peace and may their families find consolation in our love and prayers.

The pain, uncertainty and fear, and the realization of our own limitations, brought on by the pandemic have only made it all the more urgent that we rethink our styles of life, our relationships, the organization of our societies and, above all, the meaning of our existence. Mother of Mercy House is getting back to normal during these trying Covid days. Dianne planning for our after school program, Alex and Sisters Eileen and Mary Ellen stocking shelves, Danny and Richard (our neighborhood volunteers) putting together more shelves, and Fr. Murphy doing a neighborhood walk. Sharing the mercy of God with all. Fr. Murphy ran into Lorena sitting outside of her apartment on Kensington Ave. She was so happy to see someone from Mother of Mercy House... where she used to come for groceries. She can’t walk too well anymore so we’ll be bringing groceries to her. And today was her birthday so, on behalf of Mother of Mercy House, Fr. Murphy gave her a cross. As you can see, she was quite happy! Fr. also ran into a young man named Alex. He didn’t want his picture taken but he asked for prayers so that I can stop living like I’m dead and live like I’m really alive. Fr. Murphy assured him that all of our friends of Mother of Mercy House would be storming heaven for him. See more

Our Thursday Grocery Distribution. Thanks to so many generous and kind-hearted benefactors, we are able to provide groceries every Thursday for our neighbors and friends. Today, some fresh produce was dropped off! To share the mercy of God with all.
