From Pastor Osmany's desk: But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you Matthew 6:33... To "seek the Kingdom of God above all else" means to put God first in your life, to fill your thoughts with his desires, to take his character for your pattern, and to serve and obey him in everything. Once we decide to do all these things, our heavenly Father will take care of the rest. How are you seeking His kingdom and its righteousness today?

From Pastor Kurt's desk: Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation. Psalm 146:3 ESV... It is tempting to look at a national leader as a person who can deliver us from calamity. As we look at history, it is easy to verify that this is our habbit as humans. People have been doing this going all the way back to biblical times, as the author of this Psalm makes clear. Yet to do that is to give them a level of authority that doesn't belong to them. True deliverance comes only from the Lord. It is fitting that the psalmist would use the word "trust." Our leaders can do many good things for us and for society. But if our trust is in them, the kind of trust for deliverance that belongs only to the Lord, it is misplaced, and will always be frustrated. Prayer: - Pray that in the midst of uneasy and stressful times, that the people of God would be a peaceful, nonanxious presence, so that we could point people to the God of peace (2Thes. 3:16). - Pray for our leaders at all levels, who serve at God's pleasure (Romans 13:1) Blessings, Pastor Kurt

In 1 Peter 3:8, Peter encourages the church of the diaspora to love one another. It is this love that should define the Christian community. Read more from the Board of General Superintendents.

From Pastor's desk: "I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry." Psalms 40:1... Waiting for God to help us is not easy, but David received four benefits from waiting: (1) God lifted him out of his despair, (2) God set his feet on solid ground, (3) God steadied him as he walked, and (4) God put a new song of praise in his mouth. Often blessings cannot be received unless we go through the trial of waiting.

From Pastor Kurt's desk: While I was speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my plea before the Lord my God for the holy hill of my God, while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the first, came to me in swift flight at the time of the evening sacrifice. Daniel 9:20-21 ESV... The prophet Daniel is not someone who we think of when the topic of confessing sin is brought up. He is remembered for standing firm for the Lord when it could have cost him his life (Da. 6). Yet here scripture tells us clearly that he spent time confessing his sin. Once that was complete, God was ready to reveal his plans to him. The lesson we can learn from Daniel is this: being in the presence of God requires confession. It is important that we are reminded of this, as any unrepentant sin will separate us from the presence of God (and whatever he has planned for us). When considering if this is something we need to address, a good model is this (as I remember my professor saying). When we look at the person of Jesus and we look at ourselves, we may see some differences. If we do, the only appropriate thing to do with that difference is to confess it. Christ likeness should always be the goal of the believer. Prayer: - Pray that as the people of God we would all seek to be more like Jesus, as we consider the words of 1 John 2:6 "Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked."
