Dorothy is our resident of the month! Dorothy was born and raised in Mt. Pleasant with 6 sisters and 2 brothers. When Dorothy was 17 years old, she met her husband, Matthew, at a local grocery store. Dorothy and Matthew were married at Transfiguration Church in Mt. Pleasant. Prior to meeting Dorothy, Matthew was a prisoner of war at Normandy Beach in France and earned two Purple Hearts. While they were married, Matthew worked at Homestead Steel Mill and Dorothy worked as a h...ousewife. They raised three daughters, Barbara, Marlene, and Loretta, and their son, Matthew. Dorothy and Matthew shared 53 wonderful years of marriage together. Her fondest memories of him are watching him take care of the animals on their farm. Matthew was a huge animal lover and together they raised 1 steer, 1 goat, 2 hogs, 6 turkeys, 6 ducks, 50 chickens and a bunch of rabbits. Dorothy loved to cook, and her favorite dish to prepare was her homemade stuffed cabbage. In her spare time, Dorothy loved to go gambling. She and her sisters traveled to casinos in Atlantic City, Wheeling, and Vegas four times. She enjoys playing bingo and has always been an avid reader. Dorothy has lived at Mountain View Senior Living since July of this year. Dorothy strongly believes that Mountain View was the best decision that she and her family have made and would highly recommend it to others. She already feels at home and says that it is a beautiful place with beautiful people. Dorothy loves spending time with her roommate, Gladys, with whom she gets along well. She is a die-hard Steelers fan and looks forward to every game with her Terrible Towel in hand. Dorothy is a spunky sweetheart who believes, Life is too short to have a mean feeling about anybody. Thank you thank you thank you to our families and community for the massive support we’ve received this past week! Between words of encouragement and care packages we are stronger than ever as we care for our residents! We’ll be seeing you all, soon!

To our Dear Community, Friends and Families, We are saddened to report that after 7 months covid-free, we do have positive cases within our facility. While we have been proud to say that we remained covid-free for so long due to our stellar staff and safety efforts, we also knew the reality was that this disease could affect our facility at any time. It is with these same efforts that we will contain and eliminate our current outbreak and keep all residents and staff as saf...e as possible. All procedures were immediately followed upon notification of the positive cases and we continue to work day and night for our beloved residents and their wellness. Thank you to our community, families and residents who have continued to be nothing but supportive as we navigate this challenging time.

Evelyn is our September resident of the month! Evelyn was born and raised in West Newton, PA. Growing up, It was her father’s fantasyland-like garden filled with Irises that piqued her lifelong interest in gardening. She had a happy childhood and spent a lot of time with her brother Ted, with whom she was very close. Her Polish heritage played a big part in her life, and she can still remember the smell of potato pancakes cooked by her grandparents. Evelyn is a devout Catholi...c and has always attended Mass every Sunday, even if it meant walking a long distance. Evelyn loved her job at Bell Telephone company, where she worked as a switchboard operator and made 250 calls an hour. She met her husband, Stephen, at a local dance. A few years later, they married and went on to have 3 children, Lance, Brenda, and Joyce. Evelyn and Stephen loved going to the Drive-in theatre with their children and traveling to Cleveland and Detroit to visit family. In Evelyn’s spare time, she enjoyed going furniture shopping with friends at Levin’s in Mt. Pleasant and getting ice cream sodas at the five-and-ten. Evelyn had a wonderful husband who was a great dancer and a great cook. Evelyn has lived at Mountain View Senior Living since October 2018. She stays busy spending time with her roommate and following the latest political news. Evelyn is smart, strong-willed, and a great storyteller who is always looking out for her friends. See more
