While not a Borough-sponsored activity, we communicate this recommended date/time, Friday, October 30,2020, 6PM-8PM, for everyone's safety. The Borough will not be changing this date/time, Friday, October 30, 2020, 6PM-8PM, for any reason, including inclement weather. MOUNT JOY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION NEWS RE: Mount Joy Community Foundation (MJCF) Mount Joy Borough Council on August 6, 2018 adopted Resolution No. 23-18 which es...tablished the Mount Joy Community Foundation (MJCF) as a Pennsylvania Non-profit Corporation 501(c)(3) charitable organization. One of the initial major initiatives of the Mount Joy Community Foundation is to raise funds in order to have a Feasibility Study and a Marketing Study done as to whether the region would support the development of a year-round aquatic and recreational facility. About $50,000 would need to be raised in order to complete the Feasibility and Marketing Studies. The Mount Joy Community Foundation is intended to be a long-term organization and will address charitable and education needs within the region as they emerge in the future. The Board of Directors of the Mount Joy Community Foundation is holding regular meetings and is gathering information needed to advance the concept of a year-round aquatic and recreational facility. The MJCF Board is very pleased to announce that through Act 36 there is the potential to receive through a grant in the amount of $5.5 million under Act 36 of the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP). The Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) is a Commonwealth of PA grant program administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects. Funds can only be used for construction and land acquisition costs. The Feasibility and Marketing studies must be completed before anything else can be done. The funds for the studies will need to be raised from the community. The MJCF Board will be setting up an online mechanism for the community to make donations. Look for additional posts in the near future with more information on MJCF efforts. Samuel Sulkosky, CPM, CBO MJCF Board of Directors [email protected] 717-368-1125
