Thank you, LMC Churches, for your partnership with Mennonite Central Committee - MCC! As we travel around the East Coast region presenting these beautiful wall hangings created by Pam, our Quilt Room Supervisor, and quilted by MRC volunteers, we wanted to share how truly thankful we are for our partnership with the church. Thank you to all of our supporting denominations! None of our work would be possible without your prayers and support.
Are you looking for a way to volunteer? We need to inspect and repack 3,000 boxes of meat before the end of September, and 10,000 boxes by January. That means quality control for 312,000 cans of meat! These Mennonite Central Committee - MCC shipments are going to partners working with refugee camps in Ethiopia and internally displaced people in Ukraine. Each box of meat weighs approximately 40 pounds so some strong arms and backs are helpful. When 5 or 6 people work at it to...gether, a lot of progress can be made. People can sign up with a group of friends or family members. Daytime hours for this activity are Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Evening hours can be arranged for Tuesdays or Thursdays 6:30-8:30 p.m. We are using proper safety protocols. Please email [email protected] or call (717) 733-2847 to sign up. #mccpeace #TogetherWeCan
Please join us in welcoming Brian Snader, our "new" Packing Coordinator and Material Resource Assistant! Brian returned to this position after serving overseas with Mennonite Central Committee - MCC in Kenya. He says, "It is good to be back at the MRC again! Our family had the privilege of serving for 3 years with MCC in Kenya. When visiting with communities there I would frequently talk about the many volunteers at the MRC who were sharing their time and energies to help ca...re for God’s creation and spread love for others. Upon returning I see your dedication continues. It is good to be with you again and rejoin your efforts of sharing God’s love and compassion for all in the name of Christ! Special thanks to Melvin Weaver (pictured with Brian baling infant care kits) who filled this position in the interim after Leroy Stoltzfus retired in mid-March. Both Melvin and Leroy continue to serve at the MRC as volunteers.
"It’s like one lady said ‘Lydia’s caring and sewing lives on in you.’ She’s passed on something good to me. I picked it up. - Leroy Bowman When his wife can no longer sew for MCC, a husband’s journey to make comforters begins. https://mcc.org/centennial/100-stories/bringing-comfort... This year, we'll be sharing 100 stories for 100 years of MCC. Follow along: mcc.org/100-stories #mccpeace #mcc100years
