Tonight is Muhlenberg Township night at the Reading Fightins! Some free tickets are still available. Stop by the Muhlenberg Township building before 4:30 to grab your tickets. It's going to be a beautiful night for baseball!

Have you kayaked before, but want to join a group on a trip down the river? Then the June 19th River Adventure is for you. For the safety of the group, please no novice kayakers. We will be partnering with Blue Marsh Outdoors to provide the equipment for the float down the river at the cost of $35/person which includes a kayak, paddles and personal floatation device (PFD). This is an open event; you may participate if you have your own equipment for $10/person. Reservations ...are a must and can be made through the township website (www.muhlenbergtwp.com) so that we have an adequate number of guides for this adventure. All participants are required to wear a PFD and sign a waiver for both the Township and Blue Marsh Outdoors. Please wear appropriate water attire and water shoes for your safety. Bring along sunscreen, a hat, water and a dry bag to protect your valuables. A Ziploc bag helps, but is not waterproof. This program is contingent upon safe river conditions the day of the event. Please note that transportation will not be provided. Please coordinate your own transportation to the start and return to get your car following the event. It might be good to find a friend to join you so a car can be at the start and finish locations. Registration is available online. A limited amount of equipment will be available for rent. If you have any questions call 610-929- 4727. This is a June 19th trip from Leesport to Jim Dietrich Park; (estimated 3 to 3.5 hour float) with a reservation deadline of June 14th. Participants will meet at Jim Dietrich Park near the red brick pavilion at noon. You will be given an overview of the day and then travel to the Leesport Post Office area (4 East Wall St., Leesport) to gain access to the river. You will gain access to the river across the street from the front of the Post Office. The rental equipment will be awaiting you in Leesport.

Attention all baseball lovers: The Reading Fightin Phils are hosting another Muhlenberg Night at the Stadium. Game night is Thursday, June 10 with a 7:05PM start time. The Fightins will play against the Hartford Yard Goats. Beer Tasting Festival at the Deck w/ Fightins Craft Beer Partners - Beer Wall on Penn. $1 Off Beer with Pre-Game and Post-Game Concerts. FREE general admission tickets are now available at the Township Office and the Muhlenberg Library. Gates Open 5:00. Seating Bowl Opens 6:00.

Cupid the Gorilla is going to give it a whirl at balancing on four wheels at this park. He has taken a lesson from Tony Hawk, so he thinks he can do a few trick. Come out and give him some encouragement to stay on the board. Find Cupid, snap a selfie with him and share it in the comment section for a chance to win prizes!

Cupid the Gorilla is in his first hiding spot of the Valentine’s season. In anticipation of all the Valentine’s candy, Cupid is playing basketball, baseball and pickle ball at the only Muhlenberg Township park you can do all three sports. Find Cupid, snap a selfie with him and post in the comments to win prizes.

Starting February 1st Muhlenberg Township Parks & Recreation will be hiding Cupid the Gorilla in various locations until Valentine’s Day. Here is a new way to get out into the local parks and have fun doing it, plus you will have a chance to win prizes along the way. The clue to his first hiding spot will be posted February 1st. Check out the Parks Department Facebook page regularly to see where Cupid the Gorilla might be hiding. Take a selfie with Cupid and post to our Facebook page to win prizes. He is an antsy guy and moves around a lot, however; he will stay at each location for a few days at a time. On Feb. 15th Cupid will head back home to his loving family. Please do not disturb Cupid the Gorilla and remember to wear a mask, social distance and have fun when you are out exploring the parks in search of Cupid.

It's holiday house decorating time again! We know that the Holiday season brings out the best in home decorating. Consider signing up to be judged in the Township wide Holiday House Decorating Contest. Rules of the Contest include: 1) All contestants must live within the Muhlenberg School District. ... 2) Entry deadline is December 14 at 12 noon. Judging will take place on Tuesday, December 15 from 6 to 9PM. 3) Homeowners are encouraged to designate in which category they would like to be considered, but the Arts Board has the right to reassign the category. Judging Categories: Whimsical/Creative display has hand designed elements; moving decorations; use of music. Holiday Spirit - display includes all or most aspects of home and yard. Classic/ Nostalgic displays utilizes traditional elements in decorating. Contemporary - display has some creative uses of inflatables. 4) Winners will be notified by December 18th and a photo of their home will be posted on the Township website and/or in a future edition of the TWP Magazine. All contestants grant Muhlenberg Township the nonexclusive right to use a photo of their decorated home in future promotional materials.

THE DEADLINE FOR THE TOWNSHIP SCAVENGER HUNT IS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 31st. Make sure you get your answer sheets in. Township Scavenger Hunt... Muhlenberg Parks & Recreation Department is hosting its first Township-wide Scavenger Hunt. This is intended for anyone that lives in the Township. Just visit www.muhlenbergtwp.com to download your question sheet. It's easy, you write your name, address and phone number on a piece of paper along with the answers to each question. (When you answer please make sure that the questions numbers correspond to the correct answers.) Some research is required, but most of the answers can be answered by visiting your local parks. There are some pictures to be taken also. We ask that you remember to follow CDC social distancing guidelines and not gather in large groups. Once you’ve completed your hunt, you can submit your answers electronically through [email protected] or drop off the answer sheet at the Township Building’s drop box located at 210 George St. Reading PA 19605. Please do not submit answers on Facebook and there is only one entry per household. The winner will receive a gift card to a local Muhlenberg business.
