Smoke on the water

Venus Fly Trap: Everybody’s favorite carnivorous plant! Dionaea muscipula is native to the boarder of North and South Carolina in nutrient poor soils. Sensitive hairs in the traps trigger them to close when touched trapping unsuspecting insects which are digested for nutrients. Hardy outdoors to USDA Zone 6.

‘Miami Rose’: Created in 1999 by Florida Aquatic Nursery. This tropical water lily has a semi double, deep rose petals with mottled pads that appear more burgundy than green. Medium spread, day blooming, prolific bloomer.

‘Green Smoke’: This old tropical hybrid was developed by Martin Randig in 1965. Unusual green color. One of our favorites here at Aquascapes. Petals range from chartreuse to smoky blue. Flowers freely, medium size, day bloomer.

Water Mimosa: Neptunia aquatica. The genus name comes from Neptune, the Roman god of the sea. Tropical floating stem plant that loves the summer heat. Touching leaves causes them to close and fold inward. The hotter the temperature, the faster the leaves respond.
