USMAP PROGRAM Did you know that you can get a certified certificate from the Department Of Labor for FREE just being in the United States Navy?... The United Services Military Apprenticeship Program (USMAP) enhances your job skills and shows your motivation for more challenging military assignments. Having a Department Of Labor Certificate Of Completion of Apprenticeship is a definite advantage in getting better civilian jobs since employers know the value of apprenticeships. Using USMAP, you can attain tangible proof to show your next employer how much experience you’ve gained working in their various fields. During your apprenticeship, you document hours performing the duties associated with your job in the military. The DOL offers programs like this in the civilian sector as well, only you have to pay for it. The apprenticeships available coincide with the work you are already doing on a day to day basis. Each certificate has a certain amount of hours required for completion and once the hours required are completed and the certificate is received.

Have you ever considered being a Meteorologist ?! YUP! The Navy has that as well! Aerographer’s Mates are Enlisted Sailors who do hands-on work that helps Navy Meteorologists and Oceanographers prepare Navy forces to succeed in any physical environment. They monitor sea conditions, analyze meteorological data, and develop accurate forecasts for virtually any locale in the world. As an Aerographer’s Mate, you’ll supply important environmental information that impa...cts Navy missions of all types. You will perform duties that may include: Collecting, recording and analyzing weather and oceanographic information Making visual and instrument observations of weather and sea conditions Operating meteorological satellite receivers Interpreting satellite data, radar imagery, and meteorological and oceanographic codes Preparing up-to-date weather maps and oceanographic data Issuing weather forecasts and warnings Providing weather/oceanographic briefings Using, testing, calibrating and performing minor and preventive maintenance on meteorological instruments Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent is required to become an Enlisted Sailor in the meteorology and oceanography field in the Navy. Those seeking an Aerographer’s Mate position must be U.S. citizens with normal color perception who can meet eligibility requirements for a security clearance. It is FRIDAY and we noticed we have several new friends following on our Facebook page. So we wanted to introduce one of our Talent Scouts and tell you a few things that you may not know about Petty Officer Ritchie who is on the right. He is a coffee lover and loves a good dark roast coffee. He says he can enjoy it with a little or no cream. He recently purchased a cell phone gimbal and is in the process of learning how to use it (pray for him). Hopefully he can ha...ve some cool videos to post in the future.! He ran cross country in high school for one year (p.s. He says he hated it but my basketball coach made him participate).
