Northeast Community Center has completed it’s 2020 Christmas Distribution! After years of offering this service to residents of the Marvine-Pembroke community, we are happy to announce that it was one of our most successful yet. On Friday, October 23rd Air Products hosted an employee flu shot clinic and generously combined it with a food drive in support of Northeast Community Center’s food pantry! Because of their generosity, our shelves were overstocked with items such as pancake mix, oatmeal, pasta, and rice. These items are difficult for us to acquire and often requested by our clients. For their last day at Advent Moravian Church before heading back to our center, the students of our Virtual Learning Support program requested a #PajamaDay to celebrate! To further the celebration, NECC treated them to fresh donuts and milk . We can’t thank Advent Moravian Church and Bethlehem Area School District enough for accommodating our program by volunteering their space and transportation. A water leak can’t stop us! Two weeks ago, our community center had an incident with a leaking pipe which caused us to have to shut down our Virtual Support Learning Program for building repairs! However, we recognize how important this program is for the children of the Marvine-Pembroke community. Thanks to the generosity of our friends at Advent Moravian Church, NECC is able to continue the program in their space for the next few weeks while repairs are being finished. In a...ddition, Bethlehem Area School District kindly offered to bus our kids to and from the church safely and conveniently. To help children of the Marvine-Pembroke community get ready for the 2020-2021 school year, FLSmidth employees generously collected and donated 75 backpacks to #NECCBethlehem to distribute to children of the neighborhood! Although school might look a little different this year, kids still need supplies! Thanks to our friends at FLSmidth, we will be distributing FREE backpacks filled with school supplies to the children of the Marvine-Pembroke neighborhood this Thursday, August 27th from 2pm-4pm! Children entering grades Kindergarten - 12th grade who live in the Marvine-Pembroke housing development are eligible to receive a backpack. Child MUST be present to receive their backpack. Everyone must follow social distancing guidelines and wear a mask to help make this event a success!

We could not have done this without the advocacy and partnership of Second Harvest Food Bank of Lehigh Valley and Northeast Pennsylvania and those who drove to SHFB and helped unload food outside during this difficult time.
