Happy Birthday to Soh Jaipil (Philip Jaisohn). Jaisohn was born in Korea in 1864 and moved to the states, calling Norristown home for a period of time stating in the late 1880s. In 1890, he became the first Korean to become a naturalized U.S. citizen. Jaisohn stayed in the Philadelphia area working as a doctor, publisher and political activist. He died at Montgomery Hospital in Norristown in 1951, two days before his 87th birthday.

One of our followers said this is the FIRST location of the firehouse on Penn Street near the courthouse. The engine house moved to the location we now know as Five Saints Distilling on East Main Street.
