||Post Intensive Care Syndrome|| . Millions of patients are admitted to intensive care units (ICUs) each year, one third of whom need a ventilator. These critically ill patients may develop health problems related to their illness, injury, ventilator or other treatments. Such problems cannot be totally prevented and can continue after the patient leaves the hospital. Symptoms and complications include muscle weakness, decreased ambulation ability, pulmonary impairments and more. IMPORTANT NBPTC GOLF OUTING UPDATE! To avoid any potential conflict with Mini-CSM at Jefferson University on April 18, the golf outing has been moved to Sunday, April 19. NBPTC is overwhelmed with GRATITUDE to be able to provide Thanksgiving meals to over 120 families in North Philadelphia!! Thank you to Voice Community Economic Development Corporation for organizing this Thanksgiving drive and for all of the work that you do year round to serve our community. Thank you to our NBPTC community outreach coordinators for facilitating the food collection, and to our board members who did all of the additional shopping! And thank you to everyone who donated, we are so grateful for all of your support!!

NBPTC is teaming up with Voice Community Economic Development Corporation to collect items for their annual Thanksgiving Drive! "VCEDC is a community-based organization servicing the community on a weekly basis. These services include a weekly community outreach feeding program, day care program, after school youth program, adult literacy program and a weekly Narcotics Anonymous program. We also provide emergency food when requested. We are expanding our services with hopes ...of providing emergency housing and Senior Services. In addition to providing weekly services throughout the year, we assist families in our community by providing weekly groceries, back to school supplies, Thanksgiving baskets, and Christmas toys. Presently we are feeding over 400 community members monthly via our Wednesday night outreach feeding program. Your donation will be utilized to create baskets of food and supplies for this special Thanksgiving event." NBPTC will be collecting donations for VCDEC from now until November 13! Please bring cans of cranberry sauce, jiffy cornbread mix, mashed potatoes bags/boxes, cans of string beans, boxes of stuffing, and cans of yellow corn to the collection boxes in the lab (ASTAR 224/6) over the next couple of weeks and help us provide Thanksgiving meals to the families VCDEC serves!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful end to the summer! The North Broad Physical Therapy Center will reopen for the fall semester on Tuesday, August 27, and we will once again have hours three days a week. We are looking forward to another awesome semester!
