Although I have carved numerous animals scenes, oak leaves and initials onto gunstocks, I have never built a gunstock from scratch. I still haven't. However, a friend of mine commissioned me to build this base for a miniature civil war mortar he bought. It is totally functional and can shoot projectiles using black powder and canon fuses. He is going to finish it by adding a decorative edge on the wood, hardware and paint. See the descriptions on each photo.

After a bit of a hiatus I'm back in the shop. Here is a sign I just finished. Be sure to look for it at the Apple Fest in Franklin this coming weekend and patronize Brenda's booth.
