Lately I have been asked the same question over and over, Do I have to purchase funeral merchandise from my funeral home? The answer is NO. The funeral home must receive any and all merchandise you purchase outside of the funeral home with out question and without charging you additional fees. This is considered the Funeral Law mandated by the FTC. You should treat a funeral like any other business decision. The funeral business is just that a Business. I know it is har...d to think of death care in a time of need as a business but it is. If you were going to buy a car for $12,000 are you going to buy at the first place you stop? Probably not, so why do you do that when it comes to a funeral? The bottom line is you have choices and don’t let anyone tell you different. A little bit of shopping can possibly save you thousand of dollars. See more
