What is fluoride? You’ve probably heard that it’s beneficial to your dental health, but do you know why? Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that helps to fight plaque and bacteria that can cause eroding of tooth enamel, which in turn can cause cavities. Even though fluoride is a naturally occurring substance in our bodies, it’s important to supplement fluoride intake by drinking fluoridated water and using fluoride toothpaste or mouthwash.

Halloween is tomorrow and we’re gonna be creepin’ it real with you all - You can have your candy and eat it too! But we want to make sure you’re still thinking about your oral health. So here are a few tips to keep your teeth healthy while enjoying Halloween! . Drinking water helps clean the teeth and gums and minimizes the build-up of bacteria. . Hard candy tends to be in the mouth longer and sticky candy is hard to wash... off your teeth. By avoiding both you’re able to reduce the chance of tooth decay. . Your saliva production increases after a meal. By eating your candy right after mealtime, your mouth has a better chance of canceling out acid and flushing out food particles. . Your teeth will thank you for limiting your candy stash. Donate the rest to organizations like Ronald McDonald House. ’ . This is not the time to go to bed without brushing and flossing your teeth. Every hour that sugar stays on your teeth is a higher chance of it eating through protective layers. Happy Halloween! See more
