Northminster Presbyterian Church 14.11.2020

We are going to have 2 services on Sunday mornings starting November 8. At 9:30 we will have a drive-in service with the pastor and praise team in the third story windows. No one will direct you to park. Just park facing the windows. Our 10:45 service will happen in the sanctuary with masks and social distancing. You can see in the picture our expectations of social distance and safe practices. There will be no Sunday school, coffee hour, or nursery. Online sermons will continue as will these mail packets. We are sure that there are going to be more changes because this situation is so fluid. But we are going to start here and then adapt moving forward.

Northminsterians, Online material is ready to go. The service is online at http://npcnc.org/online-worship-experie/august-16-2020.html and the sermon is on Youtube at https://youtu.be/WJIESNc5NhM. This week is our hymn sing. I have selected 7 hymns that will also include introductions to who wrote the hymn and where it came from. If you want to download the bulletin and read it form your phone or device, click https://www.dropbox.com/s/arb8q/August%2016%20Bulletin.pdf. ... Thanks to everyone who filled out a survey last week at drive-in. It was great to hear where people are at, and many of you were complimentary of and thankful for what we have been doing. You support and ownership in Northminster means a lot. Session met this week and reacted to the feedback we got from our congregation. It was clear that some are ready to come back into the building and some are not coming back until there is some kind of medical answer to COVID. There was a clear call to try to keep drive-in going as long as we can. Here is our latest game plan. We are committed to continuing drive-in church through at least the end of October. We will make further determinations about what we will do in November as we get closer. We will decide whether to keep up drive-in, come inside, or move to completely virtual. We will clearly lay out all of those plans well ahead of time. Also, instead of changing our worship time in the fall, we are going to keep the service at 10am until at least the end of October. Online and mail services will continue ongoing. This past Sunday, Dan Umbs gave a report during church as the Treasurer. Here are the highlights: Our giving is down slightly from last year through July. We are off about 5%. But we are also down about that much in our expenses because we are not using the building near as much. This means we are about even for the year. Thanks everyone for your support and enthusiasm throughout this period. Two other great things to celebrate. First, our investments of financial reserves took a big dip as the market dropped early in the pandemic. We have recovered all of those funds. Second, we are marching forward on a few long-term projects for our church. We have renovated the conference room and the Willing Workers class. We are about ready to start renovating the social hall. We are also making plans to get a new sign for the church. Good things are happening. I know that anxiety has increased for many as we head into fall and things like schools and college football are in flux. Keep up your faith. Hold to your hope. We are going to stay patient and cautious as a church. And if you need something let us know. With a clean heart and sanitized hands, -Pastor Jordan Rimmer

Northminsterians, Three things to know this week. First, the online worship material is online. The sermon itself is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjC1Wn96CpI&feature=youtu.be and the online service is at http://npcnc.org/online-worship-experien/august-9-2020.html.... Second, the session and I are wondering about how and when we might come back to worship in the sanctuary. We are looking for your input on the matter. We will be handing out paper copies of the survey, but if you want to fill it out ahead of time or email me with your thoughts ([email protected]) then you can do that. You will find the survey at https://www.dropbox.com/s/bpnl64/NORTHMINSTER%20SURVEY.pdf. Third, next week’s drive-in service will be a different kind of service. I wanted to do a hymn sing, but wasn’t sure how to give out lyrics and take requests. So we are doing a little different kind of hymn sing. I have picked 7 hymns. For each hymn, there will be a little introduction about the author and/or the situation of writing the song. It should be a fun Sunday. With a clean heart and sanitized hands, Pastor Jordan Rimmer

Northminsterians, We are having communion this week in the parking lot. You will receive small disposable cups that are pre-filled with a little wafer on top and the juice below. We will partake at the end of the service. We have been blessed on the weather, but it looks like it may rain on Sunday. It is light rain and no thunder we will try to be outside, but if it is driving rain or thunder then the band and I will have to be inside. We will be up in the window, leading wo...rship Rapunzel style. I will make the decision Sunday morning, and your ushers will make it clear which direction we are parking.
