I had one of my clients call me as they had a new symptom - stomach pain. After asking a few questions, it seems continued stress is taking a toll on the digestive tract. When we are stressed, the digestive juices are diminished - digestion is not a life or death process, so the body can stop producing enzymes.... Add stress to eating, and you probably aren’t chewing your food! The body isn’t designed to digest chunks of food. So you need to really chew food into a puree. But to be able to do that, you need to bring a state of peace and calm to you before your meal. Then you can also enjoy it. In the meantime, they had tried baking soda - it worked temporarily. They tried Tums - it worked temporarily. I suggested some digestive bitters and a tsp of raw apple cider vinegar to promote digestive enzyme production and improve acidity. ‘Oh my gosh, You are a health guru! Not just an expert! I feel instantly better already! Everyone should be working with you as you always come up with what I need when I call!’ If you have GI distress or pain, reach out and we’ll figure out what it is you need to do to make the pain go away! Cause if you cannot figure it out, I can point you in a better direction :)
How do you deal with Change of plans? This morning, I drove to the Y for my swim, and there were hardly any cars in the parking lot...so before I stepped out of my car, I checked the website. 4 hour delayed opening. sigh. So I go to the Volvo dealer earlier than planned, pick up my serviced car.... Then in my driveway, I realize I forgot the garage remote in the loaner car. Good thing I have a remote keypad. But instead of driving another 12 miles, I will pick up when I go to the Y. Now to do yoga instead of swimming because getting on the bike trainer doesn’t sound appealing anymore. Plus I need to eat before I do anything else. Accepting things as they are even when plans change allows for the adrenal system to stay calm and out of fight or flight mode. Remaining calm and grounded allows for normal eating vs emotional or stress eating. Sometimes, things do not go as planned. Accepting and going with the flow improves your health. and Now I have MY car back. She is happy to be home, too.
