Micah 6:8 {NIV} says "And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." The words of our pledge of allegiance to our flag declare "liberty and justice for all". May we all work together for the day when those words become a reality.
A recent article about the coronavirus ended with this sentence: "There are no safe places in this pandemic." However, Psalm 27:5 says "For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock." As we "shelter in place" may we make Jesus our place of shelter. This shelter is not an escape from the needs of the world, but a place to find peace, comfort, and strength as we pray for God's help in time of trouble.
A Message From Pastor Bill: God is Love
As we look out our windows and see the beauty of nature all around, may we be reminded of life springing forth after a season of death. The Easter message is all about renewed hope after despair. May the one we celebrate this Easter, the one who is " The Resurrection and the Life", be our hope and joy each day. Have a Blessed Easter.
Joshua 1:9 says "Have I not commanded you be strong and courageous Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord you God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua was also in an "unprecedented" time. Israel had been slaves in Egypt, then 40 years in the wilderness. Now Joshua was the leader of the people and they stood poised to enter the promised land. But there were difficult battles ahead. Our world is facing a time like never before, but just as He was with Joshua He will be with us fighting our battles and leading us to the promised land. Although we don't know the path before us, the One who is with us knows and we can trust Him completely.
As we begin a new year, some of us may be excited about the future. Some may be anxious. Most of us probably feel a little of both emotions. Because 2020, as most years will have its share of sunshine and shadows for us to walk through. We wish each other "Happy New Year" knowing that every day will not be happy. Happiness is based on our circumstance, but joy is all about who walks with us through each moment of our lives. Jesus in John 15:9 says "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love." Then verse 11 says "I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete." May 2020 bring you much joy in experiencing the the never-failing love of Jesus Christ.

A message from Pastor Bill: The Value of the Person
Esther Ho is a May 2019 graduate of Carnegie Mellon University. She received a M.B.A. degree from Tepper School of Business. This summer she will begin work for Alix Partners in New York. We were so glad to have Esther attending Oakland Gospel Church during her time in Pittsburgh. We also enjoyed meeting her mother and her husband. We look forward to visits from her when she is back in Pittsburgh. Our prayers are with Esther for many blessings in her future.
John 1:3 "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." Jesus faced the darkness of death for us and came forth victorious. Allow the Light of the World to shine into the dark times in your life and give you victory. HAPPY EASTER!
Proverbs 17:17 "A friend loves at all times." Be a good friend and show to others the love that God has shown to you.
i John 3:1 (NIV) says "See what great love the Father has lavished on us that we should be called children of God!" During the cold days of winter let the warmth of God's love fill your heart.
