Oakland Farm

Last week was Butler Farm Show. As always, it was extremely exhausting for everyone but one of our favorite weeks of the year! Here are a few photos (thanks to those I stole them from)

Today was our first show of the year. Marc took three animals to the 4H District show at Lawrence County. We didn't get many pictures but here are a few. The highlight of the day was Marc's Sr. 2 year old being named Best Bred and Owned Guernsey! Thanks to Ethan Zang for helping Marc get ready! Congratulations to Willowbrook on Grand and Res. Champ!

Farm Show is rolling around quickly.. several people have asked our "theme" this year... I just found out what linda ordered... Just for fun... anybody want to take a guess what we will be doing.. I'm guessing most of you will get a big kick out of it!

It was a busy morning at the farm! We hosted the PA Holstein Junior Judging school! It was a great time! We hope all the youth learned a lot!!

This farm family is good one tonight: It’s the Moser Family!!! This family is the backbone of the Butler County Dairy Promotion Team and they do a fantastic job... at going above and beyond for the dairy industry! Their dairy, Oakland Farm, has been around for 113 years and is the oldest farm with only Guernsey Cattle! Just about everyone in this family is out there in our community promoting agriculture at the Butler Farm Show, Butler Agway, and through various 4-H organizations! They are a great example of what good things dairy farmers can do with their community, and we thank the Mosers for all their hard work!

We are super excited the Butler Eagle took interest in our struggling industry and is trying to help out! Of course any product is better then no product at all but we encourage you to buy local if possible! Our Farm ships to United Dairy in Martin Ferry, Ohio.

For unto us a calf is born. An early Christmas present showed up this morning (which we are ok with instead of at 7pm when we are all headed to church.. lol). A heifer calf from an IVF embryo out of Oakland Double L Pippa. From our farm to yours, we want to wish you all a very blessed Merry Christmas!

All American Nominations are out and we couldn't be more excited! Oakland Alberts Pineapple (Summer Yearling) owned and shown by Marc was nominated for Junior All American. We also want to congratulate Bella Gable for the Jr. nomination for Oakland Latimers Prestige and Jamie Trotter for the Jr and Open nomination for Oakland Toby's Halania!!

A few months ago Priscilla decided to get herself into some trouble outside and cut her udder open. It was pretty gross looking but with the great work of our wonderful vet, you'd never know it happen now. Here are a few picture of it all stitched up and healing.

We think this little unique fella is pretty cool. He was born with a micro eye and only a stub for a tail. Neither of these deformities effected him in any way. He was a happy, hungry, health guy. Some of you may think he looks familiar. He was also the star of the Butler Christmas parade.

Our cats really do have a stressful life.. lol
