In just a few minutes I’ll be teaching my last yoga class of 2020. WOW is that ever hard to wrap my mind around! The shift to outdoor and virtual-only classes this year granted us all access to a new experience and a revitalized understanding of yoga as a way of life, yoga as a practice and a foundation, yoga as one of the gossamer threads that draws us in...out...everywhere! Santa brought my three-year-old grandson Calvin a Buzz Lightyear...the two of the them calling o...ut to infinity and beyond all day long...that’s what yoga wants from us, delivers to us, shows us, excites in us. The schedule for the new year is, well, a little bit new...with two live outdoor classes and two virtual zoom classes every week beginning next Monday, January 4. Just purchase your drop-in class spot on the website and see what beyond has in store for you. January will be a test run for how to proceed on towards Spring so commit to showing up for the classes you want to always be there and let me know if there’s something newer than new that will work best for you. Looks like we’ll get some milder temps on Friday and Saturday and that might encourage you to book your spot for outdoor yoga at 9:30am. Did you know we have 3 outdoor yoga classes every week? The Cacao Chalet protects us from rain and now has two space heaters to take off the chill. BUT...it’s not really about being warm anymore. Last night our intrepid group practiced while the temp registered at 30 degrees. And they loved it!... Yoga has always been an exploration of direct experience. What IS practice? How will you breathe, move, be still, feel if you take all of what’s normal away? If your sight line goes on forever into the night sky or the morning light? How will a small community of pioneers willing to practice in a new way shift your perspective to allow for discovery and healing? If I’m honest, I have to say I’d probably take a pass if I wasn’t the teacher devoted to her community. But then I’d be missing out on something healthy, invigorating, healing and inspirational. My suggestion is that you give it a try. We practice outside under cover in a wide open 3-bay garage (fancied up of course...magic carpets under foot and twinkle lights over head!) Each class is limited to 6 students to assure plenty of distancing and healthy space. Each student is required to wear a mask at all times during practice. Classes are held on Monday at 6:30pm and Friday & Saturday at 9:30am thru Dec 19. Somehow, some magical way, zoom yoga connects us in a manner that’s hard to describe. It’s still body-tingling, sense-expanding, soul-inspiring wonder even tho we are towns or states or an ocean away.
