We are happy to announce a new development in regards to our AWDF Championship and thank all those who made it happen or supported it genuinely, with their hear...t. AWDF/CWDF Announcement The AWDF, the hosts of the 2021 AWDF IGP Championship, and the Canadian Working Dog Federation (CWDF) have agreed to provide an opportunity for competition between our two countries. We were all disappointed with the announcement that the FCI IGP Championship was cancelled and have been looking for a way to foster friendly competition. The AWDF hosts will be providing, at a minimum, entry fees, Team AWDF uniforms and a travel allowance to Canada for the top seven competitors from the AWDF IGP Championship at the IGP 3 level and the IGP 1 and IGP 2 Champions provided that the IGP 1 and IGP 2 Champions attain minimum scores of 80 in each phase which is a requirement to go to a worlds by the way. This means 9 people can represent the AWDF abroad at the CWDF Championship to be held October 15-17 in Ontario, Canada. There may be an announcement of more support as those opportunities develop. We realize that this is the same date as the AWMA IGP Championship but were constrained by the dates available to the CWDF for its event. If a Team AWDF member happens to be an AWMA member and prefers to go to the AWMA Nationals instead of the CWDF, then he or she will get the Team AWDF uniform, the same stipend that the rest of the team gets to go to the CWDF, and the entry paid for the AWMA Nationals. While there is the possibility that COVID restrictions will continue to limit the ability for US competitors to enter Canada, we are hopeful that this may be resolved by October. This is a great opportunity to enhance relationships between our US and Canadian handlers, while supporting our sport and we hope you will construe this positively as we continue to try to create opportunities for our competitors. COVID Announcement Because of the encouraging news regarding improvements in the COVID situation and announcements of a decrease in restrictions, we are pleased to offer more accessibility to the event. We will be offering passes for three people to accompany each competitor and AWDF general board members, a total of 4 passes each as well to the event. Passes can be picked up at draw night or at the entrance to the stadium. If conditions continue to improve, we may be able to further open the event to others. To keep everyone informed, there will be an announcement section on the event homepage where updates will be posted. It is our sincere hope that we can provide even more people the ability to spectate as more restrictions are removed. We appreciate the hosts and all of the volunteers, knowing many have young children and elderly parents whom they care for or see frequently. Please, also, remember WVIK will be providing livestream coverage of the event on FB and YouTube. SINCEREST WISHES FOR A SPEEDY RECOVERY TO MARK PELLON We regret to also announce that preselected helper, Mark Pellon, has to undergo surgery on a knee so we wish Atilla, Marcus and Timo the best of luck at the helper tryouts. This is a stark reminder that helper work is rigorous and that we should be very thankful to all of our helpers be it a trial or training helper. Thank you.
