Ultimately, 11 granite panels will memorialize the names of some 2,200 veterans. Pavers, fencing trees and lighting will be installed. The four townships of the Northwestern Lehigh School District have come together in a unified effort to honor our local Veterans with a permanent memorial to be located in Ontelaunee Park. The vision of the committee is to list all the names of our residents who served in the military services since the Revolutionary War to the present time, with provisions for adding Veterans’ names into the future. Last week the last passenger car for the Ontelaunee Park Train was officially finished. This car is named Carl D. in remembrance of Carl D. Snyder. If it was no...t for him this project would never had happened. Carl bought the train at an estate auction in the year 2000 for it's eventual return to the park. Twenty years later the train cars have all been restored. I wish he was still here to see what we've done. Next to be restored will be the locomotive. A very special thank you to Jon Bond of Bond Custom Art. Not only did Jon do the lettering and striping on all the cars and tender, and also the "Tripoli" station sign, but he did it all as a donation to the restoration.
