Just finished up a casting for an @openbionics Hero Arm! Definitely the coolest multi articulating myoelectric #prosthetic arm on the market, and utilizing 3d printing, they've made it much more affordable too! When we heard about @richardlucasslusher's @gofundme campaign for his hero arm and the fact that his insurance would not cover this life changing technology, we knew we had to join in to help. How we started! 75 hours and done? Wow, have we come a long way in clinical education and training since 1962! We were just clearing out some old files and found this certificate from 1962. We understand our responsibility to continue providing the essential care you need to stay mobile and confident in your daily lives. The safety and health of our communities, patients and employees are extremely important to us and we've put in place policies to ensure utmost safety in care delivery. 1. Regular disinfection of high touch surfaces as well as all devices when handled and returned with EPA approved products.... 2. Telehealth appointments for initial consults, screening and follow up appointments with online secure document upload for prescriptions and intake forms. 3. In office apointments are scheduled to eliminate any waiting in our waiting room and to allow time to disinfect rooms between visits. Screening is required for all employees and patients prior to entry. 4. Social distancing protocols are practiced for fabrication and clinical employees and we've set up remote work ability for our office and billing staff to be able to work securely from home. This veterans day is really something special! In the last couple of months, and especially the past 3 days, We've had the special opportunity to be involved in one of the most amazing organizations, Challenge America, and their #camvets Makers for Veterans make-a-thon. Working with a dynamic and talented team of volunteer engineers, technicians and prosthetic professionals we worked to get "Z", a dual Marine and Army veteran who lost his leg to a drunk driver in a motorcycli...ng accident, back on a bike again for the first time in 8 years! Meeting all these veterans, learning about their experiences and helping work on solutions has added extra meaning to what we commemorate on veterans day and the sacrifices our veterans have experienced in order to keep us and our country safe and free in an ever changing and frightening world. Our company Presque Isle Medical Technologies was founded by Morton Heifetz, a veteran who served in the Korean War, so giving back to these veterans is something we feel especially grateful for and fits right into our purpose of restoring confidence independence and mobility to amputees and other differently abled individuals. #restoringconfidence #amputees #prostheticcare #prosthetic #makingadifference
