Wow.....incredible changes to tax code in the new Covid relief bill. We are advising any clients that have already had your taxes prepared and owe any money to the IRS or Maryland not to send in your payments until we are able to review your return ( especially any containing unemployment compensation or Affordable Care Act insurance subsidies. Your returns will likely need amended. Anyone who has completed their returns with unemployment will need amended and anyone who has ...to pay back any healthcare subsidies will also need amended. Realistically , we are booked for appointments through April 15 -so we will start addressing amendments after that date. We ask that everyone who needs an amendment give us a chance to process those who still need to file their original returns. We anticipate tax season being extended to June 15 or July 15 in the very near future. Thank you for your patience and understanding. See more

We do expect the IRS to extend tax season this year -however to this date they haven't. All of our appointments have been filled through April 15 for weeks and drop off returns have been coming in at a phenomenal rate. We need to limit drop offs at this point to only existing Parcel Plus tax clients until the IRS officially extends tax season. We are hoping they announce it within the next week.

We are swamped right now, but still paying attention to the Covid bill that will be signed by President Biden today or tommorrow. The forgiveness of taxing a portion of unemployment compensation is in the bill. The current guidance is that any already completed returns will need amended. We are certain it will take at least a week or 2 for the IRS and software providers to figure out how this is to be reported. We ask for your patience and to let this unfold before flooding us with phone calls and drop offs at this time. Unfortunately - there are no definitive answers yet.

Parcel Plus front of the store will be closed Thursday Feb 18 due to snow. Mike and Eric are in for taxes for the early appointments if you are feeling that you would like to come in still. We will be contacting the later appointments today to see what your intentions are as we see how the snow storm shakes out. Be safe everyone.
