Found this large mud dauber nest in the up lock assembly. The mud has the imprint of the fabric cover on it. For the Beech fans note that the uplock springs are rusty, the Tygon tube isn’t installed correctly,and you can’t see it but the uplock cable is rusty. For the extra observant, the aileron cables are also rusty. In case you were wondering the last annual inspection was signed off 4-1-20.

This is not what you want holding the exhaust ball joint together.

A Viking came in today for an oil change and some other squawks one of which was a paint chip in the top cowl. The first photo is what the chip looked like at 10:00. The second was taken at 4:00.

Exhaust inspection using penetrating oil. This is an older exhaust with the internal welds. The second photo shows the junction between the forward riser pipe and the collector. The last photo shows the oil sweeping through the crack.
