A: All-Electronic Tolling (AET) means no stopping at toll booths, and no paying with cash (OR credit card) while driving the #PATurnpike. Instead, customers pay using an E-ZPass transponder mounted in their car. OR our cameras will take a photo of the car’s license plate, and a Toll By Plate invoice will be mailed to the registered owner. Recently, the Smart Belt Coalition (SBC), a collaboration between transportation agencies including the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and the #PATurnpike, conducted an automated truck platooning demonstration that began in Pittsburgh and ended in Michigan. The SBC partnered with the technology firm Locomation to complete this demonstration of truck platooning, which is the linking of two or more trucks using connectivity technology and automated driving support systems. These vehicles automatically maintain a set, close distance between each other when they are connected. On #NationalArtDay, the #PATurnpike and Pennsylvania Council on the Arts are pleased to announce the virtual unveiling of a new Art Sparks installation designed and created by art students at Panther Valley High School, in Lansford, Carbon County, for the Hickory Run Service Plaza. In coordination with the Allentown Art Museum the students create living fiber walls out of textile art sculpting with wool and needle felting. The final art piece represents well-known points of interests of Jim Thorpe.
