Loading some hardwood into one of the two VacDry R&D vacuum kilns here at the shop this evening, beautiful 3" thick Black Walnut, to be used as stair-treads / in a stairwell...can't wait to see what it looks like as a finished product!

Accidents happen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sF61FsQkf-w ...but hopefully not to our package! Many thanks to John Hedglin who provided some really great shipping advice, including recommending the local company Smith & Dotzel to handle the freight.

Sam Schnaible was kind enough to gift us a set of Black Acacia CrushGrind spice mills from his line of products at Jabou Design in thanks for some time we spent working on a custom control proposal. He harvested the tree in 2009 from Larkspur, CA. See more here http://jaboudesign.com/

"The wood for Marucci bats - mostly maple and ash - is harvested from the rich forests of Pennsylvania and southern New York. The wood is cut from an Amish-run mill the company bought four years ago. On arrival at the mill, each piece is weighed, graded and separated. Just 13 percent of the lumber will make it to the big leagues." The forgot the most important part: the wood is dried using PCS VacDry vacuum kilns. The tiny bit of magic that has allowed Marucci Bat to capture 30% of the MLB market.
