Have you ever felt like this? Question for book club discussion! Maybe it was time to forgive myself as well. To stop searching for the perfect life and embrace the one I had. To create my own happiness. - Where the Stork Flies, Sand Hill Review Press

Due to inclement weather during this Memorial Day weekend, our usual Facebook Live event with Executive Director Jan Turnquist will be offered as a compilation ...of three live on tape recordings -- one of which comes to you directly from Authors Ridge at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord. Jan will first take us to the place where Civil War veteran Louisa May Alcott and her family members are interred, and visit other notable neighbors and friends of the Alcott family as well. She will then go remote outside of Orchard House, harking back to a time, place, and significant event in the life of Louisa May Alcott that occurred as a result of her service as a Civil War nurse. Once inside Orchard House, Jan will not only connect the dots of her outdoor broadcasts, but also delve into the fascinating history of one of the very first commemorations of Memorial Day in the United States. We hope you discover more about this moving holiday as a result of watching our broadcast, and please feel free to post questions and/or comments. We greatly appreciate your curiosity, and will respond as soon as possible. Our sincere gratitude goes to all those who serve and sacrifice, in war and peacetime, throughout history. Watch today's broadcast at 2:00 pm via this Vimeo link -- https://vimeo.com/556874357 -- or view it later by selecting it from among our other Facebook videos at https://www.facebook.com/louisamayalcottsorchardhouse/videos (choose the May 30, 2021 recording). Thank you for your continuing interest and support!

"It liberates the vandal to travel--you never saw a bigoted, opinionated, stubborn, narrow-minded, self-conceited, almighty mean man in your life but he had stu...ck in one place since he was born and thought God made the world and dyspepsia and bile for his especial comfort and satisfaction." - The American Abroad speech, 1868 Photo: The Mark Twain House & Museum

Had a great time talking today with Jeffrey M. Fuller. He asked me some excellent, probing questions about self awareness, personal blind spots, spirituality, and storytelling. Watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch
