Thank you all for making the 2020 (first and only?) virtual Advanced Weather Camp a success! It was a pleasure meeting all of you and we hope to see some of you in person next summer!
We're looking forward to seeing/meeting you all very soon! Registration will close Wednesday, June 17 at 4 pm EDT. The 2020 Penn State Advanced Weather Camp will begin Monday, June 22 at 9 am EDT. Schedule/Content: http://www.meteo.psu.edu/~wjs1/weathercamp/wxcamp2020c.html Registration: https://weather-camp.outreach.psu.edu/register
The calendar is taking shape! Note that registration will close next week (mid-week) so if you're on the weather camp fence, now's the time to decide as we still have a few slots open! Thanks very much, looking forward to meeting you soon! (http://www.meteo.psu.edu/~wjs1/weathercamp/wxcamp2020c.html)
Unfortunately, Weather Camp 2020 has been canceled and Advanced Weather Camp, scheduled for June 21-26, is now being offered as a virtual opportunity as part of Penn State’s efforts to maintain public health and safety in the face of the coronavirus outbreak. This decision was made with your health and the well-being of our community in mind. We are expanding our offering of Advanced camp for students entering grades 10 -12 and no prior Weather Camp attendance is required. T...he camp will run from 9:00 am ET to about 4:00 pm from June 22-26 and will include plenty of weather forecasting and data analysis, faculty research updates and college planning tips, as well as virtual tours of Penn State's Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science, and hopefully the National Weather Service State College office and AccuWeather. An information session for parents and campers interested in Penn State will conclude the camp Friday afternoon. Campers will need access to a good internet connection, a computer and a printer. This is certainly not how we planned our 20th anniversary, but we still are looking forward to seeing you in late June! More details will be emailed out to parents who have registered soon, but know that you certainly can cancel for a full refund and that the virtual offering is about half the cost of the residence camp. The calendar of events is a work in progress, but we will have a tentative schedule posted by early next week here: http://www.meteo.psu.edu/~wjs1/weathercamp/ For the latest Penn State updates, visit virusinfo.psu.edu. Thanks very much. -Bill and Jeff, camp instructors
At this time, Weather Camp, set for June 14-19, 2020, and Advanced Weather Camp, set for June 21-26, 2020, will still be held as scheduled. We are closely monitoring the situation with the community’s best interest in mind, as part of Penn State’s efforts to maintain public health and safety in the face of the coronavirus outbreak. If Weather Camp or Advanced Weather Camp is canceled, we will notify you as soon as possible. For the latest Penn State updates and information, visit sites.psu.edu/virusinfo.
