IRS just released the following on EIP: https://www.irs.gov//irs-statement-about-economic-impact-p I didn’t receive a direct deposit yet. Will I get a second Economic Impact Payment? Maybe. IRS updated Get My Payment (GMP) for individuals who are receiving the second Economic Impact Payment on January 5, 2021. If you checked GMP on or after January 5 then: If GMP reflects a direct deposit date and partial account information, then your payment is deposited there.... If GMP reflects a date your payment was mailed, it may take up to 3 4 weeks for you to receive the payment. Watch your mail carefully for a check or debit card. (See the FAQ for EIP Card) If GMP shows Payment Status #2 Not Available, then you will not receive a second Economic Impact Payment and instead you need to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2020 Tax Return. Because of the speed at which the law required the IRS to issue the second round of Economic Impact Payments, some payments may have been sent to an account that may be closed or, is or no longer active, or unfamiliar. By law, the financial institution must return the payment to the IRS; they cannot hold and issue the payment to an individual when the account is no longer active. If Get My Payment shows Payment Status #2 Not Available you will not receive a second EIP. The IRS advises people that if they don’t receive their Economic Impact Payment, they should file their 2020 tax return electronically and claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on their tax return to get their payment and any refund as quickly as possible.

This is a friendly reminder to take a photo of your odometer on December 31st. Beginning on January 1, 2021, the standard mileage rates for the use of a car (also vans, pickups or panel trucks) will be: 56 cents per mile driven for business use, down 1.5 cents from the rate for 2020,... 16 cents per mile driven for medical or moving purposes for qualified active duty members of the Armed Forces, down 1 cent from the rate for 2020, and 14 cents per mile driven in service of charitable organizations, the rate is set by statute and remains unchanged from 2020. Here are some tips to track your mileage: Use a mileage tracker app MileIQ Everlance TripLog Keep third parties records of odometer reading.

Good Afternoon. Tune to this page to get continuing updates on the stimulus/budget congressional bill. Also for the tax updates that are within it. 1. The bill... has not passed. 2. The president has not signed it. WHAT WE DO KNOW AT THIS POINT. a. There is no way to change your bank numbers. This payment, if passed, will come to wherever the last one came. b. There is no way to add children to this payment, if passed. You will add the dependents to your 2020 tax return that will be processed this winter/spring tax season. The 2020 return will calculate how much the stimulus should have been, and compare to what you already received. If you are entitled to more, you will get it. If you got too much, you don't have to pay it back. I will try to keep you posted every day to what is happening in Congress. PLEASE SHARE THIS POST. AND THANK YOU

Today the National Taxpayer Advovate announced the IRS is going to mail a backlog on TWENTY MILLION notices -- apparently they have been printing but not mailing them. Many will already be past the response date, or even closed in the taxpayer's favor. If we have a 8821 on file for you, we will get a copy and assess. Call us and don't panic. Most of may longer be valid, and most of the "Due by Dates" will not be valid.... We have seen a lot of letters already last week.

Penn York would like to give you an update of the Covid 19. Please note that we are operating on limited staff. But we are working on the 200 tax returns that have been dropped off in the last 3 weeks. 1. There are 327,000,000 million persons in the United States accoring to Alexa... 88,000,000 checks were deposited last Monday. If you did not get yours,,,,, it is simple, you were in the 239,000,000 that did not get yours last week. 2. The IRS has the Where's My Check Site... up...... 327,000,000 tried to get on that site at one time. If you got no information, you were not one that actually got on the Site. 3. IRS has not answered their phones in at least 6 weeks. I can not call IRS and find out where your checks it. And they won't let me come to Washington to print your check. I can lie and say I will check, but in reality there is no place to check and you will end of being mad at me!!!!! 4. I realize we are all short tempered with all of the stuff going on. Please be patient with us. Asking the same question 16 different ways, will get you the same answer, I don't know where your check is, when you will get it, and I can't really find out for you either. Keep Trying on the IRS Site, and call your congressman! See more

If you need a 2018 or 2019 filed in order to get your stimulus check, please call. We can get that done for you. Please remember if you have filed a 2018 and your 2019 is not filed you will get a stimulus check based on 2018 income. It is those that have not filed in either year that won't. However, those that receive SS Payments or SSDI payments will get a check based on the information in those files. Those do not need to file a 0 tax return to qualify

IRS guidance for non-filers who want in on the action: "IRS Encourages Non-Filers to File 2018 Now for Potential Stimulus Help IRS Updates 03/24/20 1:56 PM... The IRS encourages anyone with a tax filing obligation who hasn’t filed a tax return for 2018 or a previous year to act now. Pending legislation includes certain potential credits and rebates for those who have filed a return for 2018 and/or 2019. Those without 2018 tax filings on record could potentially affect mailings of stimulus checks. And more than 1 million people who haven’t filed tax returns for Tax Year 2016 and are owed a refund still face an April 15, 2020, deadline to file their return. This deadline hasn’t been extended. Current law requires the 2016 return to be filed by April 15, 2020. The IRS is encouraging non-filers to consider contacting a tax professional to consider various available options since the time to receive such refunds is limited by statute. Once delinquent returns have been filed, most taxpayers have the opportunity to resolve any outstanding liabilities by entering into an Installment Agreement or an Offer in Compromise with the IRS to obtain a Fresh Start. See IRS.gov for further information." https://www.irs.gov//irs-operations-during-covid-19-missio

Good Morning. The Good News: PA has updated the list of essential services to include Accounting Offices that can remain open. Your tax return and Payroll will be able to be completed in a timely manner as we are now allowed to travel to work and can be here to provide you with the outstanding services that you have come to expect of us. The bad news is that myself and Denise are in the high risk group with underlying health problems. Therefore we are going to continue to s...everely limit persons coming into our office. We ask that if you have even the tiniest sniffle, please drop off your material in our outside drop box. Call us if you need to come into our office to sign paperwork, please use the table to sign what is necessary. We ask that you use your own pen, or one from our brand new supply and that you take with you when you go. That area will be sanitized between each person I am protecting myself by seeing NO ONE until the coast is clear. I need to be here next year to do your taxes again.

As of this writing, IRS has not extended the tax due date from April 15. However, we are considered a non essential business in the eyes of the PA State Administration. Although we are staffed, we are asking if you are sick, or even sneezing to avoid our office to keep us healthy. 2 of our preparer's are in the high risk group for the Corona Virus. We are here doing tax returns, but we are encouraging everyone that can to drop off their paperwork, and we will work on your re...turn and call with questions. Our drop off box in the front of our office will be checked multiple times a day. Feel free to call us to tell us you left paperwork there. We can give you portal access if you have scan ability. Email is also acceptable at [email protected]. We are currently asking that our update paperwork be filled out before you get here. You can find that paperwork under documents on our website www.pennyorktax.com. Please print and fill out the POA for each taxpayer for IRS and the state you have tax returns in. This will limit the persons congregating in our front office. If you do need to keep an appointment, please wash your hands upon entering our office, only the taxpayers should come at their appointment time and drivers should stay in the car. This will eliminate multiple persons sitting in the front office. Unfortunately while we understand your child care issues with no school, we are not allowing children to play in the front office at this time. These measures will keep us serving you at this time of crisis. See more

I am in my 3rd month of Tax Court Classes. From time to time I'll share some of what I'm learning. Congress gave the Authority to IRS to collect Taxes in 1913 with the passing of the 16th Amendment. And in 1913 the first 1040 was created. IRS is mandated to collect taxes on all of your Income that is not specifically exempted. Deductions to that income are a matter of Grace. They have to be substantiated. This means without records or receipts, the deduction may not be taken on your tax return. Lesson here....Do not throw away your records, or estimate them. In Tax Court or an Audit, the deduction can not be legally given to you.
