Emanuel United Methodist Church Day!

Hi Emanuel Family, last week I (Pastor Matt) sent the following letter out to members of our community regarding and upcoming transition. I wanted to post it here to make sure everyone had a chance to see it. (Please note the RSVP date for our congregational celebration service and luncheon) Dear Emanuel Family, As we approach Holy Week and prepare for Easter we are reminded that in order to experience the joy of resurrection we must first experience the pain of death. Death ...often feels like the end, but the story of the Gospel teaches us that death is not the end, but the beginning of something new and different. It is with some sadness but hope for the future that we have announced during this period of transition we will hold a final worship service on April 30, 2017. It will be a service of celebration as we remember the impact that the ministries of Emanuel have had on each of our lives as well as on the community. However, just as the Gospel teaches that death is not the end, so too we celebrate that this is not the end for our community but the beginning of a new chapter of our journey together. Emanuel will be combining with Calvary UMC to form a new community of worship and service. We are excited about all of the new possibilities that this provides to do the ministry to which God has called us. We want to invite you to be part of this celebration. Please join us for a service of celebration and a luncheon on April 30 at Emanuel starting at 10:00am. Hi Emanuel Family! The funeral for Dakota James is being held at Calvary UMC on Saturday. They are currently looking for volunteers to help with the service in the following ways: Greeting people at door as needed, Directing people to bathrooms, Answering any questions, Asking attendees to move toward the centre of pews if it gets crowded, Help after service to turn the church over in preparation for a 3:00 wedding.
