Clinical staff from Chestnut Hill Hospital - Tower Health hosted an outdoor flu shot station that was open to the community in front of our Northwest office. Big thanks to the volunteers from various departments of Chestnut Hill Hospital, Pfizer, and our social service team for this awesome community initiative!

PIHN would like to share a round of applause with the best community there is! On November 22nd, PIHN and Arcadia University joined to celebrate our annual traditions of the Empty Bowl Dinner for the first time through zoom. Thanks to the support of University volunteers, staff, and our local community - we have raised $30,000 towards our homelessness prevention fund! Special shout-outs to our dinner host, Mike McGrath, to our generous dinner sponsors for funding the executio...n, and the attendance of PIHN's alumni, and the National Auto Body Council's Recycled Rides Program who donated a beautiful 2015 Toyota Carola through Service King Collision and GEICO. Big thanks and congrats to our car winner, Kylia Alston, who has shared how much having a car truly makes a difference. (Click the link for video footage) https://vimeo.com/482369958/3ea8714ced Thank you so much to everyone for supporting us through this unusual turn of events. With social distancing keeping us apart, the warmth of our community has surely kept us together. http://philashelter.org//thanks-for-a-spectacular-virtual/

Dust off your bowls, put up a pot of soup, and support your local restaurants for Arcadia University and PIHN’s joined 2020 Empty Bowl Dinner event! With some special adjustments due to social distancing, we are excited to announce that our annual event will host virtual activities (courtesy of Zoom) on Sunday, November 22nd at 7:00PM. To commemorate our ongoing tradition of the Empty Bowl Dinner during this unusual year, we will be publishing an Empty Bowl recipe cookbo...ok! We are asking to include your favorite soup, bread, and dessert recipes in order to celebrate our Empty Bowl mission of sharing and generosity. Cookbooks will be sold as a fundraiser for PIHN’s homelessness prevention work, and a portion will also go to Rise Against Hunger to fight against world hunger internationally. Visit our blog for details about the event, and to download your recipe submission form. It is truly a sight to behold when those who’ve spent time in our program give back after finding sustainable housing of their own. Thank you so much to our thoughtful PIHN Alumni, Faatima and her family, for the generous bulk donation of groceries to distribute to other families who need assistance.

The families we serve are among the most vulnerable with many working front-line jobs, as others have lost employment, daycare, and income while managing from one crisis to the next. Since the start of this crazy year, PIHN has already assisted over 120 households with funding, and anticipate helping nearly 300 by year end due to the outbreak.
