Classes include reading, writing, math, basic computer classes, high school equivalency preparation, and English for speakers of other languages. After almost 2 years of limited employment capabilities, the Philly Shipyard Inc. is once again bustling with activity. A contract procured in April has allowed the Shipyard to hire more employees and send it on a positive trajectory once again. JPMorgan Chase & Co. today announced Philadelphia is one of seven winning cities in its AdvancingCities Challenge, part of the firm’s $500 million, five-year initiative to advance inclusive recovery and promote greater economic opportunity in cities. The collaboration between PIDC, City of Philadelphia Government's Rebuilding Community Infrastructure (Rebuild) Initiative, and Philadelphia Works will receive a $5 million philanthropic investment to connect diverse workers and... businesses to well-paying jobs and contracts in the city’s construction industry.
