Last week, a number of entertainment industry leaders joined together and signed a unity statement agreeing to launch a Black-Jewish Entertainment Alliance. The organization will host events and programs aimed at developing understanding and fellowship between the communities. A quote from the group's unity statement reads, "We recognize that the Black community in America has faced a history of racism that continues to this day, while the Jewish community is currently encountering record levels of antisemitism, which affects both group’s sense of fear, vulnerability, and self-worth." Beyond running the Plaza, we have been working closely with teachers to enhance Holocaust education across the city and beyond. With the surge of racism against many minority communities, our latest initiative utilizes the Holocaust as a teaching tool to counter propaganda and bigotry and the violence they often lead to. Much thanks to Samantha Melamed of the Philadelphia Inquirer for talking to our Executive Director Eszter Kutas and for writing this excellent article on our efforts. https://www.inquirer.com//philadelphia-holocaust-remembran
