Philadelphia Paint Recycling 12.11.2020

People regularly ask me what paint "recycling" is all about? Since we're trying to get a lot of equipment in place to properly mix down large batches, I have been a bit reticent to share the present low-key way in which we currently prepare the paint. Waiting to show-off the way that we ARE gonna be doing it, not the way that we do it at this moment. But then, why make folks wait to see how it works, who really cares? So here it is... we sort and grade the paint, by color pal...let, and sheen (shine). We strain the material through screen(s), to get out any lumps, clumps, etc. We carefully combine specific colors and sheens, add distilled water if needed, to get the specific product we are looking for, and then strain it one more time. We then give it a final mix, pour the paint into clean buckets, and deliver the product for use. The nice thing about these small batches, is we've been able to tailor colors to specific customer needs, which we may not be able to do, once we are producing hundreds of gallons a day. The colors we offer at this time are white, off white's of the tan and gray varieties, darker grays and tans, browns, blacks, reds, blues, yellows, oranges, pinks, purples, and greens. We can not match exact colors, and don't offer everything under the sun, but we do sell high-quality product for a super great price, and there are many choices of this truly recycled product. Here is a moment of final mix and strain of a typical batch of tanish color, but we had to tweak it to get it a bit darker, like our customer Heidi wanted for the hallway walls in her rental property. The final wet color looked very much like liquid foundation makeup. I kidded the customer that we would call that color forever more Heidi #9, for all future batches that were close to that color. Just a little trailer load of Five's, 75 5's to be precise! Saved from the dump, the land fill, the incinerator, what ever. They'll be screened, strained, mixed, blended, QC'ed, re-canned, and go out the door to beautify peoples' places at 1/2 to a 1/4 of normal retail. A truly green product!
