Happy Saturday! We hope you’re enjoying the weekend. Tomorrow Sunday we will be sorting and organizing a ton of clothing. ... We recently received a donation of 109 bags and we want to get it out to other organizations that need it. If you can assist or need men’s or women’s clothing please come by the hub / garden tomorrow (dress warm). Hope to see you after 10 am tomorrow.

This is a vile act.

Life. How do you define it? By the car you drive? By the house you live in? By the title and job you have?... By how much money you have in your bank account? By the number of likes and followers you have? By your race? Gender? Age? Sexual preference? By the labels on your clothes? Spend some time with some one who doesn't have a concept of any of those things. Talk to someone who doesn't even have a clue where he or she may sleep from night to night. Or how they will feed themselves , let alone some that have families. Heck, how does someone who doesn’t even have two of the same shoes (or any at all) on their feet get by? Life. Sometimes it's so simple, but we make it so complex. Learn to appreciate the little things in life. Try not to take a single minute for granted. And don't pass someone by without a simple smile, because at the end of the day we are all the same. . . . We continue to our outreach regardless of the weather or what’s going on. We have a mission to provide hope to humanity and give people a fighting chance to hopefully thrive, not just survive. . . . Please consider donating to our non-profit. Happiest of New Years to you all! We continue to do the work we do because of the support we get from all of you. 2020 was a very trying year for everyone all the way around. ... We have been faced with some of the hardest times we may ever see in our lives. This has caused an increase in the amount of people experiencing homelessness, living with food insecurity, faced with substance use disorder and mental health issues trying to do the best they can to survive with the bare minimum resources they have. We have been faced with a downfall of monetary donations due to not being able to have our in-person events and fundraisers, but we keep pushing through and doing the best we can with what we have. This past year in 2020 we handed out over 500 pairs of sneakers, over 1k garments, fed several families and sober-living and recovery homes, assisted several people in getting into treatment, connected with many families from all over to help spread some kindness, compassion and hope. as well as provide some basic resources to make life a little better. As we enter into 2021 we are faced with our upcoming rents for the Hub and Ruth Street Gardens, as well as a recent (yesterday) $800 expense to get the van two new tires (still need two more), brakes and inspection and well, just basic operating costs. Today is $5 Friday and on this first day of the new year we ask for all to donate $1, $2, $5 ... whatever you can. It’s because of each of you that we continue to do what we do! We have a lot going on and could use a little (a lot) extra help. We get a lot of people reaching out and asking how they can help @phillyunknown with our many initiatives throughout the communities. People want to help, they just don’t know how they can fit in sometimes. Join us on Wednesday, October 14 at 7:30 pm for a @zoom Volunteer Info Session. Learn about the initiatives we have and how you can be a part of a team/family of amazing individuals who selflessly come together to make life a little bit better for those in need or for our most vulnerable communities.
