Last weekend Pitt ASDA hosted its 13th Annual Charity Golf Outing at Birdsfoot Golf Club. Proceeds benefitted Providence Connections, a nonprofit that provides childcare and family support services to at-risk youth through afterschool activities and mentorship programs. . . This past Monday, 9 students had the opportunity to join over 1000 dentists and dental students in attending ADA/ASDA Lobby Day in Washington DC. Students had the opportunity to network with practicing dentists, hear from the ADA President, listen to 2 members of Congress that are licensed dentists, and of course - lobby for legislation supporting the oral health of our patients and the longevity of our profession. . . TGI #StudentFeatureFriday! This week, we feature Pitt AADMD . Last Thursday, March 21st, Pitt AADMD, affectionately known as the Special Needs Club, celebrated World Down Syndrome Day with the #RockYourSocks campaign. Since 2006, this day has been observed on the 21st day of the 3rd month, a date that signifies the trisomy of the 21st chromosome. Sporting their bright and patterned socks to school supported a cause that raises awareness for what Down Syndrome is and how people with Down Syndrome play vital roles in our lives and communities. Pitt AADMD is looking forward to volunteering at the next Special Olympics events and continuing to raise awareness through inclusion campaigns. Pitt ASDA’s steps competition this last month was a huge success! Over the past 4 weeks, 22 teams participated, logging over 24 MILLION steps total!! The winning team was Hoss and Co. (Josh Cochran, AJ Knott, Brett Becker, and Drew Davis) averaging 15,775 steps per person, per day. The individual winner was Dr. Oakley, with an average of 19,475 steps per day.
