MHI National Shipment Update In April 2021, 9,259 new manufactured homes were shipped, a decrease of 734 homes or 7.3 percent compared to March 2021, and an increase of 2,615 homes or 39.4 percent compared to April 2020. Compared with the same month last year, shipments of both single-section and multi-section homes were up, 24.5 percent and 51.2 percent, respectively. Total floors shipped in April 2021 were 14,915, an increase of 43.3 percent compared with April 2020.... None of the shipments in April 2021 were designated as FEMA units, which is the same as April 2020. Cumulative shipments for the first four months of this year totaled 35,723 homes compared with 31,921 homes for the same period of 2020, a net increase of 11.9 percent. The seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of shipments was 109,272 in April 2021, down by 0.4 percent compared to the adjusted rate of 109,745 in March 2021. The SAAR corrects for normal seasonal variations and projects annual shipments based on the current monthly total. In April 2021, 9,244 new manufactured homes were produced, a decrease of 764 homes or 7.6 percent compared to March 2021, and an increase of 2,605 homes or 39.2 percent compared to April 2020. MHI's Monthly Economic Report includes numbers for both manufactured home production and shipments. The difference between the two is attributed to the number of homes that have been produced, but their destinations are pending. The number of plants reporting production in April 2021 was 136 and the number of active corporations was 33, both the same as the prior two months.
