You feel the loss. Whether it's local or across the country. The brotherhood grieves together. Below is a well defined happening in every fire house; It’s 0550 in the morning. You’ve been at the firehouse for an hour or so. You relieved someone from the off-going platoon and checked out your gear, SCBA and equipment. You go in the kitchen to get a cup of coffee where you see a couple of guys from your shift. This can go a couple of different ways. You can talk about your days... off, kids, grandkids, or new order that just came out from upper management. Or, you can make fun of each other’s haircuts, smedium T-shirt, overall appearance or some other form of general ball busting. It’s now 0553 and the firehouse alerting system activates. A house on fire and you’re first due, meaning you’re the closest company to the incident. You know the block because you’ve been there hundreds of times on calls. You know this is a good address. Three minutes later, you arrive to find a 3 story row house with fire blowing out of all 3 floors. Within the next couple minutes, you will be dead. Five minutes ago, you were drinking coffee and shooting the shit. Be safe out there. See more

Smoke and Carbon Monoxide detectors have a life span. Check the dates on the back to ensure your detector has not reached it’s end time. You want the detector to work when needed

A closed door will save a life! At a recent fire the damage was severe. We found a room not affected by the heat and smoke after extinguishing the fire. A bedroom with a closed door will allow time to hear the detector and act.

Thank you Ox Hill Fair for posting this. During high heat and humidity weather, fluid replacement for firefighters is essential for their health. Having to function at a fire while wearing 60+ pounds of protective equipment causes the body to lose fluids from perspiration. You can help by keeping you fire department stocked with water.

Tomorrow we lay to rest one of our past members, Clyde Bouch. Clyde was a lifetime member of the Creekside Vol. Fire Dept, then moved to our service area, and continued his passion for the volunteer fire service at Plumville. Clyde will always be remembered as a great-hearted person, and one that would drop whatever he was doing, to lend a hand with anything we had going on at the hall. He always treated everyone with the utmost respect, & always looked for the good in others. Another great father, fireman, & friend that has gone too soon. Deepest sympathies to the Bouch family. RIP Clyde

At 1:12 PM your Creekside Volunteers responded to a working residential structure fire on Campbell Street in Creekside Borough. Daytime calls are a struggle for... all volunteer departments and we are no different than any others. However this case was different, we had a few guys at the station along with some others close by to get a quick hit on this wind driven fire. All occupants and a dog made it out of the house as 260 Assistant 1 arrived on scene and took command as Tanker 265 came in first followed by Engine 262. Crews hit the hydrant adjacent to the house and went to work knocking the fire down with two crews. One thru the front taking the bulk of the fire and the second coming in the rear pushing all active fire back into the burnt section of the house. Crews from Rescue 264, Tanker 261 and Brush 263 arrived a short time later and assisted in getting the rest of the fire knocked down. Units from Indiana and Marion Center would arrive shortly after along with Units from Plumville to relieve our people and take care of the remaining fire and mop up. Elderton crews were placed in our Station for stand by and assisted in getting our apparatus back in service, a huge help. We cant thank everyone enough for the help this afternoon. Proud of you all! Keep the family in your prayers! See more
