Quarter Pine Tree Farm 28.06.2021

We have been trying to figure out how to best word this message to our customers without causing panic. So please be kind when I tell you the news we want to share with you all, our loyal customers. As many of you may know, Christmas Tree farms are closing down across the nation. Sadly this is just not only in our industry; it is an issue for every agriculture commodity. The average age of all U.S. farm producers in 2017 was 57.5 years. As more operators reach retirement age..., fewer young farmers are coming in to fill their shoes. We will not bore you with all the factors that contribute to the declining trend in agricultural interest, but it concerns us daily, it should be a concern for every American. Smaller farmers warn that a country without local farmers can create problems in the food supply chain. We need to support all small family-owned farms anyway we can. For our Christmas tree farm to survive, shoppers will need to be more flexible this year. When I say flexible, I mean, you may not find a 7ft-9ft tree in our fields, etc. Some of our long time customers noticed last season the changes in our fields. We had so many NEW customers, many deciding to start the tradition of purchasing a real tree. WE LOVED THAT. Some were new customers because their farm that they had been going to for years had shut down, they were amazed by our beautiful fields. Every guest saw something different. As owners, when we look at our fields we see how hard we have worked to keep those fields GREEN. We want you all to know we are doing all we can to make sure we can supply you with the centerpiece of your Christmas holiday. Mother nature was not kind to us either this year; there was a late frost that damaged our Douglas Fir trees. Real Christmas Trees provide real business for Real Farmers. 85% of Fake trees in the U.S. are imported from overseas. When you buy a real tree, you are supporting the U.S. economy. Don't give up on us now. If you walk away from a Christmas tree farm this season because you didn't find that 8ft tree you were looking for, it will hurt that farm for years to come. It is a snowball effect that can't happen to our industry. Christmas trees take 6 to 12 years to mature, and consumer preferences often change more quickly than farmers can adjust. Christmas tree fields are responsibly managed and planned to protect and maintain hundreds of thousands of acres across North America. Planting more trees is key to fighting the climate crisis. Christmas Tree Farmers are growing a greener future. Please don't walk away and buy a fake tree. Whether you are purchasing a real tree from our farm or one in Fairmont or Bruceton Mills, WV, or even a REAL tree at Home Depot, you are supporting a dream and a family-owned business. Make sure you remember about us at Christmas time and KEEP IT REAL.

So much beauty all around us! Blue Skies! New Growth! And HOT metal tags for our seed orchard! We use a metal stamping kit so the tags can last for years on our seed orchard trees that need labels. Hope everyone is getting outside to enjoy the beautiful weather we have had this week.
