Have you ever wondered how movement and meditation inform each other? Is one of your goals this year to start or improve your meditation practice? If yes, then ...join us for... The Complete Practice: Mindful Movement and Seated Meditation A Three Week Livestream Course: Sundays Jan 17th, 24th, and 31st 10 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. We believe that the practices of physical yoga and seated meditation were meant to go hand-in-hand. Join two top instructors in their areas of expertise for this unique series. Whether you predominantly practice asana or meditation, consider yourself beginner or advanced, this series will inspire you and add something significant to your practice. In this course you will learn: 1. How to practice asana in a way that better prepares you for stillness. 2. How to use the breath to increase your mindfulness in poses. 3. How to develop an upright seated meditation posture that is comfortable and right for your body. 4. How diaphragmatic breathing can reduce stress, and greatly improve your meditation. 5. How to select a meditation technique which is suited to the particular needs of your mind, at this moment. Did you know? We are a non-profit organization, and in addition to provide a great studio which makes yoga accessible to a wider range of students, we raise funds to send yoga teachers into under-served Philadelphia Schools as well as low-income senior centers. One time a year we reach out for donations to support this work. These programs expose kids to the benefits of yoga who would otherwise not likely ever have this access or experience. They teach students how to manage their stress, which improves their performance, behavior, and the overall school environment. Please condsider making a gift today!

*CLASS UPDATE* Yin Yoga Wednesdays at 9:30am with Virginia is back! In her Yin classes, Virginia seeks to awaken awareness of the divinity of the Self in each of her students, using breath, thought training and safe alignment of the body to deepen each person's practice. ... Yin yoga takes classic Hatha yoga postures and holds them...holds them...holds them! Yin emphasizes the union of the energetic and physical body. In this class, we will be modifying yin postures further to accommodate a lack of conventional supports and "props." We will emphasize more breath and meditation while in yin shapes, tracking awareness of the mind within the body. If possible, please bring a strap, old necktie, old scarf, etc., as well as firm pillows and blankets to class. Also, if available a stable, armless chair may be helpful in some poses as a substitute for blocks. Sometimes it's hard to know exactly what to say, but staying silent is not an option. We are angry, we are sad, we are committed to listening, to learning, to making and supporting real change in our community and in our country. As a yoga studio, we inherently believe in nonviolence and condemn any such action by the criminal justice system. There is no denying that racism is prevalent in our society and we strongly support exposing and vanquishing systemic racism of all kin...ds. We have always been against economic inequality and will continue to seek to serve underprivileged populations in our community. We are here to explicitly express our solidarity with the local and national protestors. We are here to support and serve all members of our community. We believe now more than ever we must come together, support one another, and uplift one another. We are here to listen. We are here to learn. We are here to serve. See more
