Spencer works for the Reading & Northern Railroad as a car host and has recently begun training to be a conductor. His favorite part of being a car host is interacting with the passengers and having the opportunity to share his knowledge with them. If you see him on an excursion be sure to say hello!

Lori has worked for the passenger department of the railroad as a Ticket Agent, while also working in Customer Service for the freight department for many years. She recently received a promotion and we are so happy for her! Congratulations Lori!

The Reading & Northern’s Schuylkill Haven Train Station, which houses the Passenger Department, had water issues. These issues were caused by an underground tunnel that funneled water to the river. Over time it crumbled, allowing the water to flood the basement of the station when it rained hard. Working with the borough of Schuylkill Haven, a new pipe was placed under the parking lot, which redirected the water so it no longer floods the station. In addition to correcting the water issue, the entire parking lot was repaved. The Reading & Northern Railroad is grateful for the cooperation with the Schuylkill Haven Borough and plans to make a donation of $2,000 to the borough.

We have exciting news! We will be running our Rail Diesel Cars from Reading to Jim Thorpe on October 3rd, 4th, 10th, 11th, 17th, 18th, 24th, and 25th. We will depart from Reading and make stops in Port Clinton and Tamaqua to pick up passengers. Tickets from the Reading Outer Station and Port Clinton Station are $39/person and $24/person from the Tamaqua Station....
