With continued high temperatures forecasted for today, PJM, the electric grid that serves our region, is predicting a peak demand day for electricity usage. During this time REA Energy is asking that our reduce their energy consumption between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Practicing the "electric shift" helps to save the cooperative and ultimately our members money.

High temperatures equal high electric demand, which can lead to higher priced electricity. During this peak usage time REA Energy asks that our members do the Electric Shift to reduce their energy consumption between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Some ways to do the electric shift include: Setting air conditioning to 78 degrees. Using appliances such as washer, dryer, dishwashers, and pool pumps in the morning or later in the evening. Cooking with an outside gr...ill. Keeping curtains and blinds closed to keep it cooler. Today’s hot weather created a peak load this afternoon, which result in the cooperative being charged a higher rate for energy demand! Members on the water heater program may be controlled during this time, please conserve hot water use. BEAT THE PEAK, by avoiding any unnecessary usage. Crews are working in the areas of Ashville, Chest Springs and Loretto in Cambria County to locate the issue that is causing blinks in these areas. Members may experience short outages as the crews work to isolate the problem. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

While most larger outages have been restored, crews continue to work towards full restoration. There are several scattered outages throughout the territory, with about 164 members without power.
