A previous customer, Decher, is a MetaBikes rider, recently bought another one. He's been tweaking it and sent me pictures plus a note I found very interesting. For you bike geeks, "Though traditionally for the rear derailleur the use of the Avid Rollamajig works very well as an alternative to the tight cable housing bend on the front. Also, there's a company called MTB Tools that makes extended crown races between 5-25mm. I used a 15mm race which created enough additional height for the front wheel and the brake caliper to completely clear the chain and a bit of additional clearance against the heal strike factor. Probably not a benefit with the taller disc fork but worked well with the road fork." Thanks Decher! Rob RBR

Cantus update! I've had several customers comment on the angle of the seat. I can say "No worries. We'll just drill the seat and shift forward and down." Then it it occurred to me (duh!), it would be better to simply do it and post a picture of with a 27 degree angle. See what you think. I added a picture in the comments below to show where we drilled the set of holes for the the more reclined angle.

Performer has up'd their game! They now have produced a composite carbon trike called the Cantus. Here's a couple of pictures. The weight of 27.1 lbs is nice with it's very cool smooth sleek frame. I like the new steering and kingpin design to minimize shimmy points. Can't help but be impressed that they chose an adjustable Performer derailleur holder to be able to match a variety of larger chain rings contours. The bottom bracket shell is cut for the derailleur adjuster to attach to the frame. Even the Shimano 105 matte black crankset blends perfectly. A base 105 with a glass seat starts at $3699 and Ultegra with a glass seat is $4299. Add-ons such as the 5 spoke composite rear wheel and a carbon/kevlar seat can be purchased.. 'Nuf said ... take a look!

I think I found my new Baron replacement. It has a carbon frame, carbon seat, and carbon fork and in these pictures, a Shimano 105 build. All for $3599. Take a look. Performer is dedicating time and resources to design and development.

I kind of think of it as the future of what we love! Penn State hosted the Human Powered Vehicle Challenge - ASME Engineering Network. Engineering departments from Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi to the University of Kentucky, sent students to show and race their designs. Pretty fun stuff. We gave support and mechanical help as needed with Catrike as well as TerraTrike help give parts and pieces support to several teams. Here's a few photos to get the idea.

Hi Guys. FYI - Aluminum MetaBike frames are shipping in the middle of January. Manufacturing is now in back in Taiwan, so it took a bit to pull together all the components and/or frame kits but it happened. :) I'd also like to say thank you for all the support through the recent years of my fighting Lyme disease. The 6 months of daily shots through my PICC line really got the spirochetes count down. I now have lots and lots of good days and think the worst is behind me. - Rob

We're working with Performer to marry the JC-70 with its 700c rear wheel and ease of entry to the Trike-X with its rear suspension. This isn't something that's available yet, but we're actively tweaking the design with the hope that it one day will be.
