RD&S and MFS would like to wish every happy holidays and a healthy New Year
Our hearts at RD&S and Modern Freezing Systems go out to the victims of the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary
On September 12, Evapco hosted five members of the RD&S team in their box at the Oriole Park at Camden Yards. We were able to watch the Orioles win over the Tampa Bay Rays. RD&S attendees were: President, John Payne; Vice President, Jim Erwin; Director of Sales, Werner Paulus; and Junior Engineers, Matt Marzolf and Chris Pregler.
Nestle Purina PetCare, a division of the Nestle Corporation has mandated all Production areas using Ammonia refrigerant to be converted to Propylene Glycol, a secondary refrigerant used in Industrial Food Processing applications. The Industrial Ammonia to Glycol Chiller Package shown above will be installed to the Central Ammonia Compressor room. The Package will provide 160 Nominal Tons to an existing Blast Cooler Tunnel chilling the Nestle Purina wet-food product lines. The conversion will include removing four (4) Ammonia coils replaced with four (4) Glycol coils of equal capacity thus removing the risk of a potential ammonia leak to an area occupied by Nestle Production personnel.
Welcome to our newly renovated offices and warehouse. Conveniently located at 352 Newbold Road in Fairless Hills, PA just off of PA Route 1 and easy access to both PA and NJ Turnpikes. Our new facility is 37,500 square feet which allows us to better serve our clients.
Wakefern Foods Corp. The Wakefern Foods Corp. produce-warehouse in Elizabeth, NJ facility was upgraded with four replacement evaporative condensers. Each of the facility’s original centrifugal fan condensers was replaced with an axial fan unit. Energy efficiency was optimized by the addition of variable frequency drives to the condenser fan motors. As the condensers were being replaced in an operating perishables facility it was very important to minimize the frequency and duration of system shut downs. In that effort we installed a second discharge header with isolation valves. This header enabled us to continue operation of the facility’s central R-22 system during the replacement of each condenser. The original header was removed from the system at the end of the project.
MG Waldbaum RD&S Inc. furnished a complete 200 ton chiller system that was shipped to a processing facility located in Minnesota. This system was built in two skid mounted packages constructed in our shop in Fairless Hills, PA. One skid contained three Frick screw compressors and mounted motor starters, while the second skid contained the heat exchanger, surge drum, glycol pumps, glycol sump tank, and a master PLC control panel with a touch screen operator interface panel. Both skids were piped, pressure tested, insulated, labeled, and completely wired for both power and controls. This facilitated a fast onsite installation requiring only two tie-in points for the glycol and the evaporative condenser, and minimized the field wiring requirements.
